Powder Discovery Tour

New for 2027

Niseko in Hokkaido is well renowned as being the powder capital of Japan and it also has the advantage of having expansive in-bounds terrain to explore, plus the bonus of having vibrant villages. The nearby ski resorts of Rusutsu and Kiroro also offer great terrain and plenty of snow.

The Powder Discovery Tour from Whiteroom is a fully hosted and guided tour that is based in Niseko.

Highlights

  • Fully hosted and guided powder tour
  • Visits the very snowy ski resorts of Niseko United, Kiroro and Rusutsu
  • Off-piste exploration within the resort boundaries (ie not in the backcountry where avalanche safety gear is required) – the resort guiding team know where to find the best powder
  • Stay at Always Niseko Hotel within walking distance of the vibrant Hirafu village where you can head in the evenings or it’s a short shuttle away
  • Your guide has flexibility to visit different ski resorts depending on the conditions
  • Onsen visit
  • Transport logistics are looked after

Tour

The experienced Whiteroom resort guides will show you the Niseko region ski resorts and will take the hassle out of second guessing where you should find the best powder stashes.

With the ability to start where the conditions are best or even better where you can beat the lift queues, this tour will ensure you spend the most time in powder possible during your time in Japan.

Each night you will stay in the comfortable Always Niseko, where you can wander into town to enjoy Hirafu’s lively restaurant and nightlife scene. Your guides will also be there to take you out to some great local restaurants in the area as well as a local onsen tour.

You'll do lots of this.......

..hanging out in Niseko...

....this will be the trip of a lifetime!!

Itinerary

This is just an outline of the itinerary and there is flexibility to ski/ride at different ski resorts each day.

Day 1 - Arrival

  • Arrive at the Sapporo New Chitose Airport
  • You'll be transferred by Resort Liner to the Hirafu Welcome Center and your transport onwards to the hotel will be coordinated.
  • Check-in to Always Niseko
  • You’ll meet the team who will run you through the tour, weather and answer any questions you have
  • Arrival night welcome drinks and dinner.
  • NB: If you wish to organise rental equipment it is advised that you try to arrive with enough time on the arrival day to be fitted

Day 2 - 1st Ski Day

  • First day exploring Niseko! For your first day on snow your guides will kick things off with a warm up lap before you start to hunt around for powder stashes to enjoy at Grand Hirafu. There’s a huge amount of terrain to explore across Niseko United and a vast lift network connecting 4 resorts.
  • At the end of the day, you will all enjoy a traditional Japanese meal and a few drinks.

Day 3 - Niseko

  • Your guide will show you just how big Niseko is! You’ll head to Niseko Annupuri at the start of the day, ski and ride through the fun gladed zones, explore the upper mountain, and maybe even opt for the buffet lunch!

Day 4 - Rusutsu

  • Your guide will drive you to Rusutsu
  • You will spend the day being guided through the trees and valleys of Rusutsu, as well as their very quirky hotel! With multiple gladed ridgelines to explore and an extensive lift network, there’s plenty of terrain to enjoy.

Day 5 - Kiroro

  • Pack your snorkel as you’ll be heading off to Kiroro today where your guide will show you some great powder stashes. This powder gem has some awesome terrain and often receives even more snowfall than Niseko!
  • Pack your onsen gear as an onsen on the way home is also a popular option and a great way to end the day.

Day 6  - Rusutsu

  • You should now be well and truly warmed up to Japow skiing and riding, so your guide may even look to start hitting some of the many natural features in Rusutsu for a bit extra fun!

Day 7 - Hanazono

  • It’s your last day on snow and you'll be off to Hanazono at Niseko United, where you’ll head to the upper part of the mountain for fresh turns and enjoy the stunning view of Mt Yotei.
  • Farewell dinner with plenty of fun memories and a drink or two.

Day 8 - Departure Day

  • Time to check out and say goodbye to your new friends and transfer to Sapporo’s Chitose Airport for your flight home.
