Of course apart from the big mountains, one of the primary reasons to go is the snow. The renowned Chugach and Talkeetna Mountains score snowfalls of over 600 inches (15+ metres) per season, so a lack of snow is never a concern. And to attain the best from all this glorious powder, Majestic Heli Ski offer small group heli skiing with a maximum of 4 guests per guide and helicopter, plus unlimited vertical.

The Majestic Heli Ski all-inclusive multi-day packages are for 3 or 4 days, or for 7 days if you have a healthy appetite for fresh turns. Solos, duos and small groups are welcome to book, or if you have your own poss  you can book a private heliski trip. Packages include the guided heli skiing with experienced guides, lodging, gourmet meals, transfers from and to Anchorage International Airport, and avalanche safety equipment and training.

The location of Majestic Heli Ski is slightly inland relative to other Alaska heliski outfits that are right on the coast, which can contribute to more flying days because the clouds don’t linger as long after a storm.

Where is Majestic Heli Ski Located?

The Majestic Heli Ski terrain is in the Chugach and Talkeetna Mountains of Alaska, with the lodge based in Glacier View about 110 miles (2.5 hours drive) northeast of Anchorage AK and 115 miles from the Anchorage Airport. Staff will meet you at the Anchorage International Airport (ANC) which is serviced by various international and domestic flights, and drive you to the Majestic Heli Ski Lodge.

Majestic Heli Skiing Terrain & Snow

Majestic Heli Ski has access to 2 million acres of pristine backcountry terrain. The alpine terrain varies from wide open rolling glacier runs to the steep couloirs and spines that Alaska is famous for. Not all the terrain is super steep but it’s definitely deep. One common denominator of all the terrain is the abundance of powder!

Terrain elevations are usually between 2,500 feet (762 metres) and 10,000 feet (approx. 3,000 metres).

Majestic Heli Ski can cater to strong intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders, and riders are grouped according to ability, to ensure everyone gets the most out of the experience.

Typically a day’s heli skiing will cover 6 to 10 runs and the number of runs will depend on multiple factors such as run length, group fitness and ability, snow conditions, flight distance to terrain, and the weather.

Safety

Majestic Heli Ski has a dedicated and professional snow safety program. The guides continuously gather data and evidence, take field observations, perform snowpack tests, monitor weather conditions and evaluate and forecast the snow stability and the avalanche hazard. This process helps the guide team to make informed decisions on your safety, the run selection, and also facilitates the guides to find the best snow too!

There are inherent risks involved with skiing, especially backcountry skiing, even when all risk control measures are in place. Guests are required to respect their guides’ decisions. Majestic Heli Ski will not compromise on this. Majestic Heli Ski apply the latest avalanche risk mitigation techniques to help make the best possible decisions to keep you safe.

The friendly and professional world-class guides have certifications and course completions through the Canadian Ski Guide Association, Heli Ski US Association and/or the American Mountain Guides Association. Additionally the guides are certified or trained in professional avalanche operations through the Canadian Avalanche Association and/or the American Institute for Avalanche Research and Education. Each guide has medical training as a Wilderness First Responder, Outdoor Emergency Care and/or Emergency Medical Technician. The guides bring a lifetime of experience and a wealth of knowledge to Majestic Heli Ski, which helps ensure you have a safe and amazing experience.
