Muntele Mic Ski Resort Romania
Muntele Mic ski resort is a cheeky Romanian ski resort with lots of freeride terrain off its most modern ski lift, the Vâlsanu high-speed six-seater. Seemingly limited by its shortish 380m skiable vertical, Muntele Mic compensates by having a great vibe and attitude to skiing, plus it has access to heilcat or heliskiing direct from the slopes. Ski the lifts, take a helicopter to nearby cat skiing operation for a few runs then be flown back to the ski area for a final run. Could be worse!

Where is Muntele Mic Romania?
Muntele Mic ski resort is in western Romania, a hefty 486km by road (7hr+ drive) from the capital Bucharest. The ski area is in the Southern Carpathian mountains that swing through central Romania. The peak of Muntele Mic is the most westerly of the high peaks in the range. The nearest major town is Caransebeș, 25km (50min drive) west of the ski resort village. Caransebeș is a major railway hub in Romania. It is possible to take an Intercity train from Bucharest to Caransebeș in 8½hr, and then a taxi to Muntele Mic.

The mountain has two major ski-in ski-out hotels at the ski lift base, the 4-star Montis Hotel & Spa and the more basic Hotel Felix.
