Les Houches Ski Accommodation

The village of Les Houches is toward the western end of the Chamonix Valley, about 7km from central Chamonix. The village is quite extensive plus is surrounded by numerous hamlets loaded with holiday rental chalets & apartments, plus a handful of excellent hotels. The village has all the requisite services, shops, restaurants and bars one could ever require on a ski trip. A highlight of staying near Les Houches is its affordability, last-minute availability and relative quiet when compared to staying in the centre of Chamonix (which is just a short bus ride away). Most of the better hotels are just outside the village and require the bus to get to the main lifts for Les Houches ski resort.

Our favourite hotels here include the wonderful RockyPop with its well-designed rooms, lively bar, entertainment & relaxed attitude. Bus stops near the front of the RockyPop & other nearby hotels provide easy access to Les Houches village centre & ski lifts, or in the other direction, to Chamonix & beyond. Alternative Accommodation Locations

The obvious alternative to Les Houches is Chamonix, where the throbbing beat of humanity is strong and accommodation is diverse & plentiful. However, if spending less time in the Chamonix valley and more time toward the west, St Gervais les Bains and its surrounded villages provides a useful lodging location due to the access afforded by the TMB and its proximity to ski areas like Megève, St Gervais - St Nicolas & Les Contamines.
