Private Heli Skiing Weeks

Points North offer a 7-night PRIVATE heli skiing package in a private Eurocopter A-Star B2 that runs from Saturday to Saturday each week from mid Feb to late April.

The package is designed for private groups of 4 - 12 guests. Obviously the smaller the group the higher the cost per person but the more vertical you will get in each day. If your group is of expert ability, you will have the opportunity to ski / ride some of the Chugach's epic lines.

The package includes guided heli skiing (with 2 guides), 12 hours of helicopter flight time (6 guaranteed), 7 nights lodging, all meals, safety equipment, and transportation from Cordova airport. The package is based on a twin-share room however a private room upgrade is available for an extra cost. Powder skis are also available for rent.

An average day is around 10-12 runs. You can purchase more flying time beyond the 12 heli hours included in the package. Points North has a great pricing structure, because considering the high likelihood of some no-fly days, you’re not paying for flying that you won’t get a chance to do.

The accommodation is at the Orca Adventure Lodge, 2.5 miles from the town of Cordova and idyllically located on the water’s edge. The gourmet meals include lots of locally caught seafood as well as many other gastronomical goodies. There’s a good risk of getting heli belly!

Weekly Schedule

Due to the weather variables in Alaska, there is no set schedule. The aim is to ski as much as possible the best conditions as they prevail. You may even find that you ski the first 3 days and use up all of your heli time where you then have the option to purchase further heli time for the remainder of the week or you may just want to relax and take in some of the other activities on offer.

Here is a high-level itinerary...

Day 1 (Saturday - arrival day)
On the first day you and your group will arrive at Cordova airport where you will be met by a PNH representative and transported 15 minutes by road to your lodging in Cordova. There is no skiing on the

In the evening you will receive an avalanche talk.

Day 2 - 7 (Sunday to Friday - possible ski days)
After breakfast each morning your guides will give you the "good oil" on what the day is looking like weather-wise and snow conditions. A decision will then be made to fly or not.

If it is decided that it is a "no fly day", you can potentially partake in one of the other activities on offer by PNH or just take a rest day.

Each evening dinner is served at the New England Cafe.

Sunday - departure day

On departure day you may have the opportunity to get a last ski in depending on what time your flight leaves from Cordova. A PNH representative will then transport you to Cordova airport for your flight home.

Other Activities On down days when the powder is piling up in the mountains, Points North can offer other activities such as sea kayaking, fishing, ice climbing, ski touring, hiking, snowshoe tours, or glacier tours. Alternatively ride the chair lift at Mt Eyak and go skiing or boarding amongst the trees. With no-fly days at Cordova you won’t just be playing cards all day.

Orca Adventure Lodge

The lodging facility is the Orca Adventure Lodge, formerly known as the Orca Cannery which was established in 1887.

It is located 2.5 miles from the town of Cordova. No longer utilized for the fishing industry, remodeling has been directed towards making this a multi-seasonal adventure destination. The lodging at Orca consists of a 37-room, two-story newly developed lodge on the water’s edge immediately adjacent to your helicopter’s landing pad.

Upon your return from a daily outing, a steaming wood sauna anticipates your arrival. However, if you still have some energy left from riding the Chugach powder, there is a gym with weights and cardio machines that are sure to give you a workout.

Meals

All of your meals are served in the restaurant located on the premise. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as ample snacks are provided for you. Enjoy a variety of seafood from some of the richest waters in the world. Alaska is famous for it’s halibut, and Copper River red salmon. Every night brings something new to your palate and we cater to all dietary needs. Of course, there are also piles of cookies served daily just in case you have not had enough. Most guests leave calling PNH “Fat Camp”.

Wireless Internet

Points North offers wireless internet access. Bring your laptop and you are connected to catch up on some emails or post a few brag shots!
