Skiing & Itinerary

The tour takes advantage of the high-altitude and excellent snow in the region. Whilst based in the combined ski area of Cervinia-Valtournenche, the tour includes some of skiing’s most wonderful resorts and peaks. In Italy, the tiny secret stash of Chamois will surely be some guests trip highlight. Looming over everything is the Matterhorn, and below it on the Swiss side, the incredible resort town of Zermatt is consistently awesome! It's high alpine peaks, couloirs and glacier terrain provide everything for the freerider. You will have unforgettable six days of skiing, including (assuming the weather plays ball!) a descent of the Schwärze Glacier beneath the classic peak of Breithorn (4,164m). For detailed info on the full program, see the Itinerary tab.

Accommodation & Meals

Enjoy the hospitality, food & drink of a classic Italian ski resort village for 5-nights, staying in either Breuil-Cervinia or Valtournenche. Flexibility, weather & snow will dictate the best place to stay. Suffice to say, everyone will be comfortable wherever you rest your head! For more information about accommodation and meals, see the Lodging tab.

Guides & Group Size

All guides are fully certified mountain guides with extensive local ski & mountaineering experience. They are chosen for their sympathy & understanding of clients’ needs/wishes, plus their teaching and organisational skills. They stay tuned-in, work hand in hand, and make sure their working conditions are the best. The maximum number of guests per guide/group will be 7, but may be as low as 5, depending on conditions.

Technical & Personal Requirements*

Ski Ability & Gear

Participants must be experienced skiers. You should be at ease with skiing on all types of snow at a good pace all day long. Slopes may include short, steep & exposed sections plus couloirs. You should be at ease with skiing on all types of snow. We ski at a good pace all day long. Uphill skinning involved will be no more than 45 min to 1 hr per day. Guests are not expected to be masters of ski-touring technique!

All ski gear can be rented & avalanche safety gear is included in the tour price.

Fitness

Good physical condition is required, and an ability to undertake uphill skinning or short ascents on foot. You should be prepared to ski all day long at a good pace, approx. 4-6 hrs skiing.

*Good to know: if you don't have the level required, the guide may ask you to leave if necessary for the well-being of the rest of the group. If in doubt, please do not hesitate to ask!

Ski lifts

Considering the itinerary may be modified due to mountain and snow conditions, ski lift fares are not included in the price. They are at your own expense and are to be purchased on site in order to allow for flexibility. Hence in case of bad weather or snow conditions, the group can easily transfer to another spot to find the best conditions. Your guide will let you know which type of ski lift pass to purchase. You should budget up to €600 for ski lift passes, but the reality will likely be significantly less than that.

Meeting Point(s) & Transport

The meeting point for the tour is either at Cervières (in front of our Lodge Le Petit Cerf), or the Briançon train station (southern France). Alternatively, one can meet the group at the Breuil Cervinia lift ticket office at 9am on the first day. All other transport during the tour (other than the ski lifts) is included in the tour tariff. For more info see the Itinerary tab.
