Skiing & Itinerary
The tour takes advantage of the excellent snow in this region of the Alps' highest peaks, most incredible ski resorts & ski lifts that need to be ridden to be believed. The tour starts in fabled Chamonix, and explores the Grands Montets & Brevent ski areas, plus the Vallée Noire descent of over 2,000m vertical from the Aiguille du Midi or Skyway Monte Bianco. Moving to Switzerland, the tour checks out all the best freeride descents high above Verbier in the 4 Vallees. Two days are spent skiing the massive glacier terrain of Zermatt, with the Matterhorn looming over everything. It's high alpine peaks, couloirs and glacier terrain provide everything for the freerider. Assuming the weather plays ball a descent of the Schwärze Glacier beneath the classic peak of Breithorn (4,164m) should be achievable. The final day explores the far end of the 4-Vallees ski area near Nendaz. The long off-piste itineraries from Greppon will be a final treat before heading back to Chamonix at the end of the sixth & final day.
For detailed info on the full program, see the Itinerary tab.

Food is always a highlight of a ski trip, as the guides know all the best mountain huts, restaurants and 'small hideouts' .... just trust them!
Pre and post the tour, it may be best to book accommodation in Chamonix or Les Houches. Check out our Chamonix Accommodation page for info on where to stay.
Guides & Group Size
All guides are fully certified mountain guides with extensive local ski & mountaineering experience. They are chosen for their sympathy & understanding of clients’ needs/wishes, plus their teaching and organisational skills. They stay tuned-in, work hand in hand, and make sure their working conditions are the best. The maximum number of guests per guide/tour group will be 7, but may be as low as 4, depending on conditions.
Technical & Personal Requirements*
Ski Ability & Gear
Participants must be experienced skiers. You should be at ease skiing in any type of snow. The group will ski every day at a good pace. Slopes can include some short, steep sections. Short climbs with skins involved - 45min to 1hr max per day. You will not be expected to have previous ski touring experience.
All ski gear can be rented, but if you have your freeride ski gear including skins, please bring it. Avalanche safety gear is included in the tour price.
Fitness
A good physical condition is expected, as you may skin approx. 45min per day and ski the entire day at a steady pace.
*Good to know: if you don't have the level required, the guide may ask you to leave if necessary for the well-being of the rest of the group. If in doubt, please do not hesitate to ask!
Ski Lifts
Considering the itinerary may be modified due to mountain and snow conditions, ski lift fares are not included in the price. They are at your own expense and are to be purchased on site in order to allow for flexibility. Hence in case of bad weather or snow conditions, the group can easily transfer to another spot to find the best conditions. Your guide will let you know which type of ski lift pass to purchase. You should budget up to €600 for ski lift passes, but the reality will likely be significantly less than that.
Meeting Point(s) & Transport
The meeting point for the tour is either at a hotel near Les Houches (you will be told closer to the time which one!) at 8.30am or near the Chamonix-Mont-Blanc train station at 08.45am on the morning of the first day. The tour guides always do their best but can't guarantee the exact time of arrival at the train station (due to traffic or weather conditions). If you're travelling by car, meet at the hotel meeting point, where you'll be able to leave your car for the entire trip. From the meeting point, all transport during the tour (other than the ski lifts) is included in the tour tariff. Azimut's minibus is used throughout the whole trip. Not only does this make the trip easier, but it also makes it more pleasant and open: the group can chat, sleep and listen to your own music! For more info on the day to day, see the Itinerary tab.
