Snowpine Lodge

Snowpine Lodge

The Snowpine Lodge at the Alta Ski Area is a charming upscale boutique hotel that provides a delightful cozy and friendly atmosphere. Built in 1938, this Alta hotel was the first ski shelter in Little Cottonwood Canyon. Recently the Snowpine Lodge has been lovingly renovated and it retains its historic charm with original features such as granite walls.

Accommodations at the Snowpine Lodge range from luxurious king rooms with private bathroom to classy dormitories with a shared bathroom.

Where is the Snowpine Lodge?

Snowpine Lodge is located at the Alta Ski Resort in Utah, with ski-in ski-out access. Just outside the back door are a short groomed beginner slope and the Grizzly Ropetow that provide quick and easy access to and from the main part of the ski area.

Snowpine Lodge is the closest Alta lodging to the Albion base which houses ski school and the child daycare center.

The address of Snowpine Lodge is 10420 Little Cottonwood Canyon Rd, Alta, Utah.

Hotel Rooms

The East Wing is modern and all rooms have a private bathroom, flat screen TV with cable, and bathrobes. The East Wing has the following room types:

  • King room
  • Queen room
  • Twin room – with 2 twin beds
  • 2 queen beds
  • The East Wing has a set of interconnecting rooms (queen room with a twin room).

The original lodge has rooms that are more historic and rustic, and are cozy and charming. These rooms have a private bathroom and no TV.

The Eagle’s Nest Suite includes a queen bed, two twin beds and bunk bed, sleeping up to 6. This suite has a private bathroom.

There are private rooms with shared bath that come in configurations of queen, 2 twins and single twin.

Snowpine Lodge also has dormitory style accommodation with shared bath for the budget minded skier.

Facilities

As you step off the slopes, there is convenient ski storage just inside the door as well as boot drying cupboards.

You can start your apres ski relaxation in the hot tub which overlooks some of the slopes, and then potentially move on to have an on-site massage or day spa treatment to fully rejuvenate after a big day on the slopes.

The lodge has four cozy lounges in which to retreat, with overstuffed leather armchairs and couches, large screen TVs and DVD players, gorgeous fireplaces, and various board games.

Dining

Breakfast and dinner is included in the rates for all room types.

Breakfast consists of a buffet of cooked items, yoghurt, coffee, juice and other continental fare. The dining room overlooks the mountain which will really whet your appetite for the day ahead!

Dinner is an extravagant 4 course affair, and the wine list is very reasonably priced.

Wine and beer is also available to purchase in one of the lounges.

As we came into the road level entrance, we could see that the Snowpine Lodge oozed history. There were rustic old creaky stairs, beautiful granite walls, and historical photos and artefacts. As we descended to the actual lodge, the modern luxury of Snowpine was more apparent and there was definitely nothing squeaky, yet it still oozed historic charm.

We stayed in a room that was deluxe. It was on the small side but space wasn’t an issue considering the number of common rooms in the lodge. The bed linens were exquisite, and our sleep quality was fantastic and the room really quiet.

The food was a real highlight of our stay with fabulous high quality food and nice wines. The lodge possibly wasn’t quite as social as some of the other Alta lodges where there are vibrant bars and shared dinner tables. Snowpine was more of a really relaxing lodge, and rather than being like a big hotel, it was delightfully boutique and peaceful.

The service was very impressive – attentive and friendly, and another higlight our stay.

The Snowpine was an excellent place to stay – we couldn’t recommend it enough!
