See the
Sun Valley Heli Ski overview for information on the location, the heliski terrain and snow.
Full Day Packages
Full day heli ski trips are available for solos, couples, or small groups to book. The day includes a guarantee of 6 runs, with run lengths ranging from 1,000 to 3,000 vertical feet each.
Private Charters
Private day heli skiing charters are for truly discerning powder hounds that want the ultimate flexibility to have exclusive use of a helicopter. It allows you and your group to set the pace, whether that be a leisurely day in the mountains, or experts that want to fully charge at the fresh lines like powder hounds on a feeding frenzy. Private charters also provide the major benefit of being able to access portions of the vast playground that aren’t normally skied by the regular groups. Please
make a booking request for a quote for your charter.
Inclusions
All day heli skiing packages include use of an airbag backpack and avalanche transceiver to maximize your safety. A safety briefing is provided to familiarize you with the equipment, movement around the helicopter, and other protocols. Lunch is included and usually served in a protected spot in the mountains where you can enjoy the views.
Ability Level
The Sun Valley Heli Ski terrain accommodates strong intermediate to expert skiers and snowboarders. In order to safely enjoy your heli ski experience, as a minimum you should be of strong intermediate ability off-piste and have reasonable fitness.
You should be capable of dealing with the challenges presented by deep snow and varied snow conditions, such as heavy powder and breakable crusts. If you are comfortable on the intermediate and advanced runs on Sun Valley Resort in varying conditions, then you likely possess the skills needed to heli ski.
If you’ve never skied powder snow, you can
contact SVHS to discuss in further detail.
Skiers should have powder skis with a minimum of 100mm in the waist, which will allow flotation in the powder and make it easier to stay on top of varied snow conditions. There are rental shops in Sun Valley where you can source powder skis.
