Camels Garden Hotel

Camels Garden Hotel

Camel’s Garden Hotel The Camel’s Garden Hotel in Telluride is not only superbly located, but it provides a high quality of accommodation. The ambience of the hotel is delightful because it’s not a big resort hotel that’s overly glitzy.

Where is the Camel’s Garden Hotel Located? The Camel’s Garden Hotel (250 W. San Juan Ave Telluride) has a phenomenal location right at the base of the gondola and the Oak Street lift, and only two blocks walk to the main street of Telluride. The hotel is completely ski-in ski-out, and it’s a stone’s throw away from the restaurants and bars of Telluride. And considering the hotel’s proximity to the gondola which whizzes up to the Mountain Village within 13 minutes, it doesn’t get any better than this in regards to location.

Hotel Rooms The hotel has 31 rooms ranging from a standard room that is about 385 square feet, up to a suite room that is approximately 842 square feet in size. However even a “standard” room is far from standard with luxurious furnishings, delightful décor, a gas fireplace and lots of mod cons. The beds are awesome……and then there’s the bathroom. This is a spot where you’ll want to retreat from the world for a while. The bathtubs are enormous and sooooo comfortable. Sure it will take a while to run a bath because the tub is so big, but it’s definitely worth the wait.

Condominiums Camel’s Garden has eight elegantly furnished condos that have the added bonus of the convenience of the hotel facilities. The configurations vary from one to four bedroom condominiums, and all have full kitchens, king sized beds, comfie living areas, and the trademark palatial bathrooms.

Hotel Facilities The 25 foot outdoor hot tub is a highlight of the hotel facilities. With great views of the San Juan Mountains, it’s a beautiful spot to unwind and soak the weary muscles after a hard day on the slopes. Other hotel facilities and services include:
  • Steam room
  • Underground heated parking
  • Computer terminal
  • Wifi throughout the complex
  • 24 hour desk attendance
  • Sunken lounge area with comfortable chairs and a gas fireplace
  • Complimentary ski locker room and boot dryer
Atmosphere Day Spa is located on the lobby level of the Camel’s Garden Hotel where you can rejuvenate with various spa treatments such as massage, wraps and facials. As a guide to price, a deep tissue/sports massage for 60 minutes costs $130 (2012 rate). The day spa also offers in-room massage services – yum!

A Telluride Sports shop is located in the building, so it’s really convenient to organise your ski or snowboard rental without leaving the hotel.

Dining A simple continental breakfast is included with fare such as pastries, cereals, granola, juices, bagels, yoghurt and coffee. If you want a hot breakfast, X Café is on site providing a variety of breakfast dishes. X marks the spot for lunch and après-ski too. The outdoor patio is a great spot to perch in the sun whilst people watching.

Why Stay at the Camel’s Garden Hotel? The hotel provides an exceptional level of accommodation without being overly ritzy and ostentatious. And the location is absolutely the finest in Telluride.

After much research, I settled on this hotel.......and I'm glad I did!

Best location in town, just a ski pole throw to the free gondola that sweeps you into the heart of The Mountain Village. It's your choice to stay in the mountain village or in towm, but there is a better selection of bars and restaurants in town. Get to the summit, ski See Forever then down the Telluride Trail right to the ski valet at Camel Gardens. Perfect.

Huge rooms, big bathrooms, fireplace super helpful and friendly staff. Right opposite is Boot Doctors that have an impressive selection of ski & snowboard kit to satisfy any gear head.

Loved Telluride.

If location is important to you on a ski holiday then the Camel’s Garden has the best location you will find. It is absolute ski-in (where you can literally ski into the lobby of the hotel) and a 1 minute (or less) walk to the gondola.

There are dozens of restaurants and bars within a few minutes walk and you are only 2 blocks from the centre of the Telluride township.

The property has some good facilities with a lovely outdoor spa that has views across town as well as having a day spa, ski / rental shop and cafe / bar restaurant all within the confines of the hotel.

The accommodation is nothing short of superb with huge suites so big you could swing a Powder Hound. There was just 1 point lost on the sleep quality due to very minimal nightly noise from party goers heading up and coming down from the mountain village on the gondola (but a very minor issue overall). The bathrooms all have big bath tubs perfect for relaxing in after a day on the slopes.

Included in the price is a daily continental breakfast, wifi and car parking.

Based on the location, the standard of accommodation and the inclusion of breakfast, we felt the nightly rates were very reasonable (by Telluride standards).
