Snowball Chalet
The Snowball Chalet at Madarao Mountain is a recently renovated boutique lodge with 9 guest rooms and suites that cater for up to 6 guests. All rooms except one have an ensuite bathroom. The chalet is very well located, and only 100m from the slopes of
Madarao Ski Resort.
Snowball Chalet has a guest lounge with a fireplace, a nice vibe, and really friendly hosts and staff. Best of all, the Snowball Chalet runs tours to nearby resorts so can enjoy the best of Madarao or head to the closest cranking mountain such as
Nozawa Onsen,
Ryuoo Ski Park, Iizuna,
Togari Onsen,
Myoko Kogen,
Kijimadaira, or
Kurohime.
The Snowball Chalet has been lovingly renovated and has retained its Japanese roots with art and other décor, and relaxing Japanese o-furo bathtubs.

Snowfall Chalet is located in the heart of the Madarao Village at Madarao Kogen, and only a flat 1-minute stroll to the ski slopes.

Chalet Rooms
Snowball Chalet at Madarao Mountain has a variety of rooms and suites:
Family room (sleeps 6):
Each Family room is made up of 2 interconnecting rooms with a new ensuite between them. Each room can be set up as a queen, twin or triple. The rooms feature balconies.
Standard room (sleeps 3):
This is the only room without an ensuite so you’ll pretty much have the communal bathrooms to yourself, which consists of l O-furo (Japanese style) baths and separate Japanese style "washlet" toilets. The standard room can be configured as a queen, twin or triple. This room offers a lovely view towards the mountain.
Deluxe rooms (sleeps 3):
The deluxe rooms have a new ensuite and can be configured as a queen, twin or triple.
Deluxe suite (sleeps 6):
The deluxe suite has two rooms and its own private entry and internal access to the rest of Snowball Chalet on the ground level.
The suite can be configured queen or twin in room 1, and queen or twin plus queen sofa in room 2.
Luxury suite (sleeps 5):
The luxury suite is unique because it’s a cosy Mongolian yurt with beautiful high ceilings, a Japanese made designer log fire, traditional Japanese bath, 2 lounge areas and a huge amount of space (more than 60 square meters).
All rooms feature very comfortable beds. The rooms feature super comfy beds, adjustable heating, TVs, use of Yukatas (Japanese gowns), slippers, complimentary toiletries and lovely Japanese design features.

Dining and Bar
Adjacent to the Snowball Chalet is the Shaggy Yak, a bar and restaurant contained within an uber chic yurt. The yurt has a combustion fire, couches and low tables where you can gather to enjoy sake, beer, whisky or wine. The Shaggy Yak also offers outstanding après-ski appetizers and other excellent Japanese food options.
