Great Guides

When you put money down to travel halfway to the other end of the globe, you really want to have a satisfying experience. If you have the trip of a lifetime, well that's even better. The guides at PowderQuest (Mo and Vicho on this trip) knew the terrain like the back of their hand. On a day when it looked like there was no fresh to be found, they came through and found steep, challenging, and powder packed runs. I almost felt sorry for the other people at the resort riding down the wind scoured slopes in the fog. I said almost. The terrain in Argentina is unlike anywhere else in the world, and it is so expansive that it can be really intimidating, which is why I'm so thankful for the expert guides. They made everything easy and kept us in the loop regarding plans for each day, as weather in the Andes can be unpredictable. The highlight of the trip, however, had to be the two days riding at Baguales. The lodge is quaint and homey, and having private access in this area is nothing short of amazing. The trip to the lodge is an adventure in itself, driving through rivers before transitioning to the snowcat to take you the rest of the way to the lodge. We had great food, great wine, great hosts and accommodations, and absolutely stellar guides. All in all, there is nothing I can complain about with regards to this trip. My party arrived several days early to spend more time doing touristy things (read: eating meat and drinking), which I definitely recommend as Argentina is an incredible place.
