Ski, culture, fun all rolled into one!

Jase and Tyson did a fantastic job of taking me from zero to hero for skiing. I can, at the very least, get on the beginner slopes on my own after 3 days of lessons. They were good company and they know Shigakogen area well. It's a lovely ski area not overrun by tourists. Yudanaka is also a quaint little village that feels serene. I enjoyed my time there thoroughly and feel happy I was able to pick up skiing. I'll be back! The plus of this package is that everything is taken care of from the day I arrive Yudanaka and which puts me at ease. Hostel Aibiya is a warm, clean and friendly place to stay in. Thank you all so very much!

What a Great Expeience

I wanted to see what I was told was the best powder in the world and I was not disappointed. What an excellent trip in all ways. As a beginner family with my 2 adult sons and 1 girlfriend I wanted them to have the ultimate snow experience. Yudanaka was a cultural delight from the onsens to the food and everything inbetween. Shiga Kogen the best. They took to snowboarding like it was second nature with their guide George who could not have given them more attention. Tyson far too experienced for me drew the short straw and spent his time on the bunny runs with 'the mum'. I would like to have become an amazing skier but I needed to have found snow too many decades ago to count. I had a great deal of fun and that was what it was about, loads of powder, beautiful surroundings, food and family, kick starting a new sport for my sons and the best memories. As bad as I am at skiing I would do this all over again in an instant. I will be recommending Jase and his guys to anyone who wants a cultural and snow experience of Japan. Thanks to Jase and all of the guides you may see some of us again.

Perfect Powder - Shiga Kogen

Liz19/03/2019
We loved everything about Japan! Yudanako is a little gem to the gateway of fantastic skiing in Shiga Kogen. Our hotel Ryokan Biyunoyada was a wonderful authentic Japanese experience. We thoroughly enjoy the Onsen ritual after our daily skiing. Our first day at ski school with Jase was a fun, challenging and a soft snowy experience. The boys had a total blast. Tyson aka 'The Little General' is an amazing guide, teacher and mentor. His delightful sense of humor was lost on me as I tried to master this thing 'skiing', it all did eventually click for me. Overall a great, fun learning experience. Would definitely do it again.

Best way to get started (& hooked) on skiing

We signed up for Nagano Beginner Packages and it was one of the highlights of our Japan holiday.

Night before 1st ski, Jase meticulously ensured that each of us were fitted properly. Some of the gears were even brand new.

He coached us personally on day 1, Tom on day 2 & Gus on day 3. For newbies like us, you can’t get any better care & attention than with Jase & team.

When on the slopes, each of them were super patient, totally “with you”, coached us according to our levels & very encouraging. They were skiing with us, watching out and giving pointers throughout the whole day – literally from start till end of each day. Can tell that they thoroughly enjoy skiing and sharing what they know. This package is one of the best ways to get started (& hooked) on skiing. BTW, the “variety” of coaches was a bonus for me cos I got extra insights & pointers.

Jase got the 4 of us a family room at Hostel Aibiya which made us feel like we were in a hotel – spacious, private bath, quiet and clean. Yoshi & Seongmi were great hosts, and always helpful with advise and tips on where to eat & what to do.

Other bonuses included the stories from Jase during the bus ride, beer stop at one of the convenience stores, visit to one of the towns, getting Jase’s teenager son to accompany my son, getting to try different slopes & going to the slopes with the best snow each day.

Jase is very responsive to all emails, despite being on the slopes the whole day - very reassuring & shows how committed he is to making sure everything is AOK. Regretfully, we could not ski more days as my knees could not take it.

Thank you very much, Jase! Hopefully we can ski with you again soon!

Amazing experience!

Doing the beginners package with Jase and his guides was an excellent introduction to skiing and experiencing Japow for the first time. The logistics of the trip were straightforward with Jase taking care of our ski equipment hire, transport to the slopes, accommodation plus the extra evening activities of karaoke and cultural performances. It was also great being able to socialise with the other tour members in the evenings. We spent 4 nights in Yudanaka and the accommodation at the ryokan was comfortable and the onsens were great to use after a day of skiing. The instructors were very knowledgeable and patient - even with a big fraidy cat like me!! The small sized groups were great for receiving regular feedback and the switching up of groups each day meant no one was left behind or held back, depending on their ability. This meant my husband could be challenged on the beginner runs on day 2, whilst I got the chance to keep practising the basics. Despite thinking I'd just stick to the bunny slopes for 3 days, I even made it down my first run (with a LOT of assistance from Jase - thanks for making it less terrifying!!) on our last day. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip and a great introduction to skiing. Thanks so much!

Wow, what a trip! I recently spent 5 days skiing with Jase and his Team. I was initially a little hesitant to embark on a ski trip alone, however felt completely looked after. All of the guides were extremely helpful, patient, and fun. Met a great group of people, and ski conditions could not have been better. Look out for me coming back again next year!

Awesome trip!

Epic time learning to snowboard.
Very welcoming group. Felt like snowboarding with a friends rather than an instructors.
Already planning for my next trip with these guys!

EPIC!

Before this tour, I had never been to Japan, Skiid or even seen snow! I came to Japan on my own to learn to ski had the best time, didn't want to leave! Jase, Tom and Gus from JPCT were awesome guides and instructors and had me parallel skiing on my second day which was very unexpected. I don't think I'd have picked it up so quickly without them. I also came very unprepared but Jase provided me with everything I needed to ski down to my socks! The hostel accommodation was really great and easy to get to and navigate from. The boys take their skiing very seriously and the whole operation was a well oiled machine. We went to different ski fields every day which weren't packed with other tourists and although I'd come a little early in the season, there was still a lot of snow! I was the only beginner in the group so paid a little extra for one-on-one tuition but it was well worth it and I still got to socialise with the rest of the group. We also had the best time checking out the local surrounds, the boys showed us a few sights and some great places to eat. Jase was very flexible and quick to respond to emails and questions when planning the trip. Highly recommend this tour for solo travellers but I'll also be bringing some friends back next season!

My husband and I spent 5 days snowboarding. We spent three days with Gus and two days with Jase. We had an excellent week of fun, snow and stories. We were brought to different areas and terrains where we experienced a variety of snow and powder. Jase organised everything for us, from gear to equipment to the onsen. We were picked up and dropped off everyday and looked after perfectly. We would definitely recommend the trip for all levels.
