Kingfisher Heliskiing Packages

Kingfisher Heliskiing Packages are for private groups of 3, 6, 9 or 12. Of course you can have a group that doesn't exactly add up to these numbers, however the costs may be slightly higher per person as the magic number is 3 guests per helicopter load with 2 guides.

The minimum stay is 2-nights with 2-days of virtually unlimited heli skiing. Lodging starts the evening prior to the first day of heli skiing.

All packages include deluxe single accommodation rooms in the Lodge at Predator Ridge, virtually unlimited heli skiing guided by ACMG certified guides, gourmet meals prepared to your requested preferences, use of the new fleet of demo powder skis, all avalanche safety equipment, and ground transportation to and from the Kelowna International Airport. The concierge staff will also help to plan any part of your Kingfisher experience.

Where is Kingfisher Heli?

Kingfisher Heli is based in the Predator Ridge Resort located a few kilometers outside Vernon, British Columbia. We are easily accessible from Kelowna International Airport, approximately 30 minutes away.

The heli skiing takes place in the Monashee and Valhalla mountains, in a 296,000 acre tenure, 16 minute scenic flight from the base at Predator Ridge Resort.

For those wanting a warm up before heli skiing/boarding, Silverstar Ski Resort is just up the road.

The Lodging & Meals

Each group of 3 will stay in a cozy 2-bedroom suite and a one bedroom suite at Predator Ridge Resort. Bedrooms have a king bed, en suite bathrooms, and a kitchen, living room and fireplace, as well as a private balcony that overlooks your helicopter pad.

Breakfast, lunch, après and dinner are included in your trip price and a collection of fine wines and other beverages are available a la carte for an additional cost.

The Kingfisher Ski Concierge can create an off-snow experience just for you—pre-arrival fridge stocking, morning yoga session, an après ski massage or almost anything else you can think of.

Guiding

Safety is paramount at Kingfisher Heli and they are one of the few operations that provide 2 guides (a lead guide and a tail guide) for every group of 3 skiers/boarders.

The minimum cert for a lead guide is CSGA 3, ACMG Ski Guide, or UIAGM Mountain Guide and CAA 2 or 3 and at least five years working as a lead guide and at least 15 years guiding experience (some have been guiding for over 25 years). Guides certifications are a minimum of CSGA 2, ACMG ASG and CAA 2. Tail guides have a minimum of CSGA 1, CAA 1.

All guides have a minimum of 80 hour first aid with advanced protocols, and some are also licensed paramedics.

Highlights

  • 2 guides to max 3 guests
  • Gourmet chef cooked meals
  • Fly directly from lodge to terrain each day
  • Private rooms with private en-suite bathrooms

Typical Itinerary

The following itinerary is designed to provide an overview of how a typical 3 day tour operates.

Arrival Day (Day 1)

Arrive at Kelowna Airport, transfer 30 mins to Predator Ridge, check in, apres, 1900 dinner.

Day 2 (Ski Day)

7.00am Breakfast. When your group is ready to depart it's off to the heli pad located at the front of the lodge and off you go. The flight time to the first drop is around 16 minutes. All groups will have their own heli to and from the tenure. Depending on total group size, you will share a AStarB3E in the field with either zero, 1 or 2 other groups. Generally you will return around 3:30pm depending on the group and the amount of light due to the time of year.

On the first day you will be given a safety briefing of how to use your avalanche safety gear and how to operate safely around the helicopter.

When you return to the lodge, apres will be waiting for you, so you can share stories and look at pictures from your epic day. Concierge can arrange for massages and you can hit the hot tub, or fitness center.

Dinner is generally at 1900, or can be changed based on your groups request.

Day 3 (Ski and Departure Day)

After skiing, your group can either return to the lodge to change and then head the airport by car or you can be flown directly to the Kelowna airport from skiing. If you fly to the terminal, our staff will have your bags waiting for you for a quick change before you catch you flight home.

Please note this is just a rough guide and will ultimately be determined by weather and safety factors.

Predator Ridge Resort

Base camp for Kingfisher Heliskiing is in the Lodge at Predator Ridge located just outside of Vernon.

All guests have a private room with a private en-suite bathroom in a 1 or 2 bedroom unit.

Amenities include a fitness room, indoor lap pool, heated hot tub, steam room and much more.

Breakfast, lunch, après ski and dinner menus feature the best local ingredients prepared by talented chefs.

Kingfisher Heliskiing Terms & Conditions

• At the time of your booking you will need to make a deposit of 25% of the total cost of the trip, plus 5% GST, to hold your seats. We accept wire transfers for payment but accept credit cards as well.
• The balance of all trip packages is due on November 15th.
• All deposits are non-refundable. We recommend that you purchase trip cancellation insurance.
• Please inform us of any trip changes or cancellations by phone or email.
• If for any reason you must cancel your trip more than 3 months before your first ski day, we will refund the balance of the trip, however, the 25% initial deposit is non-refundable. You may use the deposit towards any trip with us in the following 3 years. You may assign a replacement person for the trip you booked. These replacements may use your deposit or final payment, but this transfer does not apply to someone that has already booked a seat on the same trip.
• Guaranteed minimum fight hours: We include minimum guaranteed hours of flight time based on the package that you book. If, due to bad weather or another reason beyond our control, we do not reach the minimum flying time, we will credit your group at a rate of $3000 CDN/hour, in 6 min increments. These credits may be split among individuals. Minimum flight hours are calculated at the end of your package and not a daily basis. Because of flying conditions, we may ski more or less on any given day, but we will try and maximize your total vertical. NOTE: There will be no cash refunds if minimum guarantees are not met. Credits for unmet minimum flying hours will be carried over for up to three years, at which time they will expire. Those credits will be applied to your new booking towards the package prices for the year of the new booking.
• Credits will not be given for partially skied days due to late starts or early returns, for less than perfect ski conditions, for down days due to personal injury or illness during your trip, or for trips that are cancelled or delayed due to airline issues.
• If your group chooses to fly over the maximum hours per day purchased in your package, you will be billed at a rate of $3500 CAN per hour, in 6-minute increments. GST will be added to these additional charges. Maximum hours are tracked daily, so you’ll always know the cost implications of your choice to purchase extra flying time.
• Kingfisher provides Emergency Medical Coverage and Evacuation insurance for our visitors and traveling Canadians as part of your trip purchase. Any claims will require that you are seen by a physician in Canada at the time of the incident. Please note that residents of British Columbia are not eligible to participate in this program since they are covered by the provincial health care in BC. (Note: This is not the same as trip cancellation insurance)
