Activities & Tours
Glacier National Park is a short drive away (25miles) from Whitefish, but aside from blissful solitude, there isn’t much to do unless one goes skinning up the famous Going-to the-Sun Rd. Come here on a sunny day for lovely views across McDonald Lake. Glacier Adventure Guides can arrange tours in winter.
Powder skiing of a different kind can be had with Great Northern Powder Guides cat skiing. Jay, Will and the team can pick you up from the resort and drive you out to their lease high in the Stillwater Forest area. Snow volumes up there are at least twice that of the resort, so whatever falls at the top of Whitefish, double it and that’s what they’re skiing at Great Northern Powder Guides.
Three Nordic ski areas are near Whitefish. Glacier, Stillwater and Round Meadows provide a huge variety for flat land free heelers.
Downtown Whitefish has it all. Swimming pool, day spas, waterslides, ice rink, movie cinemas are but a few of the distractions you can undertake on down days. Throw in the snowmobiling, dog sledding, snowshoeing, sleigh rides................... And if all that doesn’t grab you, why not participate in that great Montanan tradition – beer drinking!
