Plose

Plose Ski Resort (a.k.a. Eisacktal Dolomites) Italy

Plose ski resort is perched high above the sensational Dolomites town of Bressanone (a.k.a. Brixen). Typical of a 'small' European ski resort, Plose has fantastic infrastructure, a huge skiable vertical of nearly 1500m and one of the Dolomites longest and best advanced ski runs - the super fast, super fun Trametsch.

Whether you stay in Plose's main town of Bressanone - Brixen or closer to the ski hill is the biggest question when skiing Plose. Exploring Bressanone's nooks and crannies is wonderful, as is the Christmas night market in late December early January.

Plose Skiing & Snowboarding Terrain

Plose ski resort has a massive 1400m+ vertical, over 41km of piste trails, a modern high capacity lift system and a diversity of terrain for all ski and snowboard abilities. If it snows, the Plose off piste has some interesting descents for advanced skiers and snowboarders.plus a few side country ski routes off the summit of Gabler to tickle the fancy.

For more information see the Skiing & Snowboarding Plose page.

Interlinked with Gitschbegr-Jochtal Ski Resort and Dolomiti Superski

Plose shares a lift pass with the nearby Gitschberg-Jochtal ski resort and also is part of the Dolomiti Superski ski region.

Where is Plose, Italy?

The Plose ski resort is located in the Dolomites, 8km by road east of Brixen (Bressanone). The small town of Saint Andrea is just below the resort. Major cities nearby are Bolzano (50km south) and Innsbruck (100km north). Gateway international airports are either Innsbruck, Milan, Venice or at a stretch, Munich.  Rail connections to Bressanone are excellent. Regular buses leave the heart of Bressanone and travel up to ski resort.

For more information see the Travelling to Plose page.

Nearby Ski Resorts

In the heart of the Dolomites and not far from Innsbruck, Plose is close to number of ski resorts. The largest by a country mile are Val Gardena at Ortisei (30km by car, bus or train & bus) and the massive Kronplatz (37km by car or train).

Plose Accommodation

Several accommodation location options exist for Plose ski resort. For those that simply must stay on the hill, at least 3 alpine huts (Pfannspitzhütte et al) provide comfortable lodging above 2400m.  Otherwise, two separate locations with a number of hotels near Plancios are serviced by lifts (including a new gondola) directly to the ski slopes. Alternatively the village of Saint Andrea has some great options.

If the snow is good, stay in one of the alpine huts at the top of the ski resort, otherwise our pick though is to stay in Bressanone - Brixen. The city has all services, some great bars and entertainment plus a lovely historic centre to explore.

For more information see the Plose Hotels, Apartments, Chalets and Rifugios page.

Plose Activities

Plose is a wonderful holiday location because of its non ski activity options. The Rudi Run toboggan run is 9km long. Winter walking trails abound. The city of Bressanone has a range of historic sights to explore and in late December and January has a wonderful night market, ice skating and live sound and light show in the Bishop's Palace.
