Where is Kicking Horse Mountain Resort?Kicking Horse Mountain Resort village is located 14km outside the logging town of Golden in British Columbia, Canada. It’s about a 2.5 to 3 hour drive from Calgary, and is about 90km west of Banff, and 682km northeast of Vancouver. The resort is nestled between the Rocky, Purcell and Selkirk Mountain ranges.

Getting There From Calgary: Most international visitors fly into Calgary and either drive to the resort or catch a shuttle bus. The shuttles are available from the city and airport of Calgary. Pure Travel Group also provides a luxury shuttle service. 

If hiring a car, take the Trans Canada Highway 1 westbound from Calgary for approximately 2.5 hours until you reach the town of Golden. There’s a turnoff to the resort, and Kicking Horse is 14km up the mountain. 

From Vancouver: If on a road trip from Vancouver, take the Trans Canada Highway East from Vancouver. At Hope take the Coquihalla Highway to Kamloops. The Coquihalla Highway becomes the Trans Canada Highway 1 which you can follow until Golden. 

From Lake Louise or Banff: For a day trip, The Powder Express will transport you directly from your hotel to Kicking Horse and back for $85 which includes a full-day lift ticket. 

Getting Around To get to and from the town of Golden, there are shuttle buses multiple times a day that run from various accommodation locations at a cost of $6.

The resort of Kicking Horse is fairly small, so to get around you can just walk or ski about.
