Accommodation
Kicking Horse AccommodationThe Kicking Horse mountain village accommodation is rapidly expanding but is still quite small. There are various options such as lodges, hotels, townhouses and cabins, many of which are ski-in ski-out. There are also many hotels down in Golden (approximately 20 minutes drive from Kicking Horse) which are generally cheaper, but have the associated inconvenience of travelling up the mountain each day. Conversely, staying in Golden can be advantageous for some as the nightlife is more vibrant than at Kicking Horse.
For an exclusive experience you can stay at the Eagle’s Eye suites on top of Kicking Horse mountain resort. The package includes lifts tickets, guaranteed first tracks, a private ski instructor, dinner and breakfast, and a few other luxuries. The price tag is not pretty, but it’s the ultimate experience in being spoiled.
The Glacier Lodge is located right at the base of the resort. It is only a hop, skip and a jump to the gondola, so this accommodation is completely ski-in ski-out. With lockers on the ground floor, you can nick in to get anything you’ve forgotten, or change outfits in between runs if you wish. Self-contained condominiums and hotel rooms are available, and there are shared amenities such as a hot-tub and gym. The Powderhounds were certainly impressed with this accommodation and have rated it as the
best accommodation in Canada for mid-level budgets.
Copper Horse Lodge is a small boutique mountain lodge, just a short walk from the gondola. This place has had rave reviews and is absolutely fabulous. The Corks Restaurant and bar onsite is also very impressive.
Friends of the Powderhounds have had great things to say about the Whispering Pines. These are luxurious townhouses that are just a short walk or ski to the lifts, with kitchens, hot-tubs and garages.
