"The Canyons’ claim to fame is that they are the largest ski resort in Utah with almost 1,500 hectares (3,700 acres) of ski terrain. The only problem is that Powder Mountain
might dispute this claim because they have 2,227 hectares (5,500 acres). It all comes down to whether bus serviced terrain is counted in the statistic. Regardless of the debate about which Utah ski resort should win this accolade, it is definitely true that The Canyons is one big mountain. It is a super mega-resort with eight mountain peaks, and is one of the largest ski areas in the US
Known under plenty of other guises in previous years, it has retained the name “The Canyons” from 1997. Since that time, the resort has undergone significant transformation with nearly every lift, building and amenity replaced or improved.
The Canyons Ski and Snowboard Terrain The Canyons ski terrain
provides plenty of diversity for all ability levels, but it has a bias towards the advanced and expert rider. There is easily accessed out-of-bounds skiing, but there’s enough in-bounds terrain such that you don’t need to ski the same run twice. Highlights of the terrain include the great fall-line cruisers of varying pitch, and the impressive tree skiing in the well gladed areas. Snowboarders are definitely welcome at The Canyons, and with many natural half-pipes and two terrain parks, there’s plenty on offer for shredders.
