Food & Nightlife
Other than a festive après at Molly Green’s, dining and nightlife at the
Brighton Ski Resort in Utah is incredibly limited. Those seeking some entertaining action should head to
Salt Lake City.
Eating Out
A couple of miles down the road from Brighton is the Silver Fork Lodge (11332 E. Big Cottonwood Canyon). The diverse menu is a drawcard for many commuters returning to Salt Lake City for either après or dinner. The appetizers are really interesting in a yummy way, and they have standard pastas and steaks.
The other option is to try one of the
restaurants at Solitude ski resort.
For a unique evening dining option, see if you can get into the Solitude Yurt (536-5709) which departs from Solitude. Diners don snowshoes or cross-country skis, and wander for about a kilometre to the cosy yurt (a Mongolian tent) carrying lanterns. Thomas the fabulous chef creates a gourmet 5 course meal whilst guests are entertained by banter from the host. The cost is $100 per person which includes the meal and the equipment rental. Wine is BYO which can be purchased at the small grocery store in the village. The yurt can only cater for up to 20 people so early reservations are essential. Email yurt@skisolitude.com to request a reservation.
Bars & Nightlife
Molly Green’s is the A-frame building near the base of Brighton. The décor is rustic and cosy which adds to the particularly social atmosphere. This is a great place to go for après.
Solitude has a couple of pubs, but only the Thirsty Squirrel is open into the evening hours.
