Accommodation

At Hakkoda there are a couple of good options for accommodation on-mountain.

The Sansou Lodge is located at the base of the chair lifts and provides a good standard of accommodation.

A better choice for English speaking travellers is the Hakkoda Resort Hotel, just across the road. The Hakkoda Resort Hotel provides very nice hotel rooms, a delightful onsen, and meals that will be a culinary highlight of your trip to Japan. Either Western rooms with full ensuite or Japanese tatami rooms are available. Some of the staff speak a little English, and the level of service provided is excellent. See our Hakkoda Resort Hotel page for more information.

There are also some hotels a little further away from the ropeway, but you’d either need your own transport or rely on the hotel shuttle bus which may arrive too late to catch the first ropeway. Examples include Hotel Jogakura and Hotel Hakkoda near the Sukayu Onsen.

There are more budget accommodation options off-mountain such as cabins near Moya Hills ski resort, but you’d need to have your own wheels.
