SASS Cerro Catedral Guided Ski and Snowboard Trips
SASS Global Travel (SGT) provides fully guided and hosted ski and snowboard trips to
Cerro Catedral (
Bariloche) in Argentina - the ultimate Southern Hemisphere snow experience!
These trips are best suited to advanced and expert riders who want to shred powder and get into the side-country and backcountry. And if you want to launch off massive jumps and cliffs with big soft landings, land your first back-flip, or ski steep couloirs, that’s all possible too! Push yourself with some of the best pro backcountry skiers and riders in the industry.
The SASS Global Travel lodging is located on-mountain at Cerro Catedral with only a short walk to the lifts, so you can be ripping the slopes in just minutes.
With SASS Global Travel (SGT) you can:
- Improve your ski/snowboard and backcountry skills in an incredible setting in the heart of the Andes
- Obtain your AIARE Level I and II avalanche safety certifications
- Make the most of the sick terrain at Cerro Catedral, South America’s largest ski resort – endless lines through the trees, chutes, cliffs and bowls with amazing sidecountry and touring options
- Experience the culture and language of Argentina.
- Experience Argentina's largest and most sociable backcountry guiding operation – hang out with other like minded shredders and enjoy the camaraderie with new found friends.
Programs
SGT offers four programs that run concurrently from their facility at Cerro Catedral in 2012. Programs are open to advanced skiers and snowboarders aged 15 to 51, and span over 5 1/2 weeks from July to September. The SGT staff and guides are professional, sociable and always fun, with the "average" client in their mid-20s. Working adults in their mid-30s and beyond may find their best fit in SGT's "adults only program" during Session 3.
There are three sessions total (see dates below), with half-sessions (8 Days) and per-day pricing available for those looking for shorter trips.
Adults
Adult (18+) clients are welcome during any session, but the new 11-Day Session 3 is specifically geared towards working adults looking to get into the backcountry without taking too many vacation days. The adult clientele typically range from twenty-somethings to adventurers in their 40s. They share the experience of untracked pow lines, incredible Argentine cuisine and wine, and the infamous Argentine nightlife with each other and the great staff of professional skiers, snowboarders, and guides. The friendships formed are fantastic, and many adult clients start planning other ski trips together as soon as they leave Argentina.
Roxy Women's Session
Roxy pro riders Erin Comstock and Robin Van Gyn join SGT guides to lead groups of female athletes into the backcountry in a women's freeride program unlike any other. Offered for 18+ riders only, this program runs during SGT's Session 3 and features special events, dinners and lots of shredding with some of the best female freeride athletes in the world.
College Students
Although college students are booked and treated as adults (and are priced the same), special programs are available for US and International students. In addition to a wide array of internships, Spanish courses are offered through Spanish Immersion Patagonia that meet many University study abroad requirements. College students can also take advantage of AIARE Level I or II avalanche safety certifications, or work with SGT staff to develop a custom internship for their major.
Under 18s
The SGT coaching and guiding staff have been introducing older teens to the backcountry for nearly 8 years. Minors aged 15-17 are welcomed during Sessions 1 and 2, with professional supervision provided by SGT's "live-in" coaching and guiding staff. One week camps are available but a minimum of two weeks is highly recommended. Improve your riding and backcountry skills, experience a new culture and learn from the pros in a unique environment. This is way cooler than any other ski or snowboard camps out there.
