Ratings Explained

The aim of the ratings it to compare ski resorts across the world. Whilst there may be some bias towards certain resorts by locals (and everyone is entitled to his or her opinion), Powderhounds.com checks and validates all ratings (sometimes querying a public rating with the person who submits it).

We (our team of reviewers) have skied at virtually every resort shown on Powderhounds.com so we have a very good appreciation of how one ski resort compares to another on a global basis.

At present, while we are building up a volume of public reviews and ratings; overall ratings displayed on country pages are manually determined by weighting the number of reviews against the overall rating for a resort or operator and then assessing against our own experience. Over time these results will be automatically generated using a complex algorithm that is widely used in the hotel industry.

Where there is several resorts or operators with equal ratings (after considering the above), each resort / operator is listed in the overall results.

If you believe a rating is not correct then you can influence this by adding your own rating and review.
