Lumiere Telluride

Lumiere Telluride

Lumière Telluride Review Rather than being a flamboyant and grandiose resort hotel, the lumière Telluride goes about being an extravagant hotel in a quiet manner. Lumiere is a boutique hotel that provides a more intimate experience. You can receive attentive service if you want it, or take refuge in your suite and hide away from the world. Lumiere is the perfect retreat.

Where is the lumiere Telluride Hotel? The lumiere hotel is located in the Lost Creek Lane cul-de-sac of the Telluride Mountain Village. The fine dining restaurants and shops of the village are a one minute walk away, and one of the local bars is within easy stumbling distance. The gondola that provides transport from Mountain Village down to the town of Telluride is a few minutes walk from the hotel.

The lumière claims to be ski-in ski-out. It isn’t truly ski-in ski-out but it comes close. You can ski or board into the Lower Boomerang run and then it’s only 90 steps to the hotel’s ski storage area. Here you’ll be greeted by the ski valets who will carry and stow your equipment, and they’ll even take your boots off (even if you insist that you can do it yourself!).

Hotel Rooms The 30 lumiere accommodations are all appointed in fine furnishings and gorgeous décor. Suite configurations include studios with a kitchenette, and one, two and three bedroom residences with gourmet kitchens. For even more space and luxury, lumière has two, three and four bedroom penthouses that include decks where you can really soak up the awesome views. The piece de resistance, the Wilson penthouse, is fit for a king with 3,700 square feet of living space that includes a hot tub, fitness room and three decks.

We stayed in a one bedroom apartment and as we entered we couldn’t help but smile – what a gorgeous place to stay! The dark timber ceilings added to the relaxing ambience and the thick carpet was decadent on bare feet. The king sized bed with the high quality Egyptian cotton linen was heaven, and with wooden shutters that completely blocked out any sunlight, it was tempting to sleep in that comfie bed until noon. If it wasn’t for the lure of the skiing and the fabulous views out the window, the shutters may have stayed closed for much longer!

The bathroom was like a palace in itself and the shower absolutely decadent. The steam shower had 5 different water outlets and a seat, and combined with the steam room effect, it was a great place to unwind. The kitchen was delightfully appointed – shame we didn’t get to use it as there were too many fine restaurants nearby to try.

Other suite features include: internet access; twice daily maid service; bathrobes; televisions (including one in the bathroom); laundry facilities; and living and dining area with a gas fireplace.

Hotel Facilities and Service Rather than the over-the-top service you find in some upmarket hotels, the service is somewhat unobtrusive which is delightfully pleasant. (The only exception is the OTT ski valet service that might not be everyone’s cup of tea!).

The facilities of the hotel are top notch and include everything you’d want for a ski holiday at Telluride. Services and facilities include:
  • Complimentary shuttle service in a luxury van to the airport or downtown Telluride
  • Sauna
  • Outdoor Jacuzzis
  • Valet and underground parking
  • Ski and snowboard valet service and overnight ski tuning
  • Fitness centre
  • Business services
Dining and Bar The theme of lavish décor extends to the bar and dining area where there are comfortable couches, leather armchairs and fireplaces. Breakfast is served here and includes a selection of yummy hot food items as well as fruit, yoghurt and cereals. It’s also possible to get breakfast in bed – magnificent!

For après-ski the bar becomes a classy spot to enjoy a cocktail and some fabulous sushi.

For dinner, room service is available (catered by La Piazza restaurant) or you can take a short walk to one of the fine dining establishments such as La Piazza, or take a gondola ride to Allred’s.

Why Stay at the lumiere Telluride? This hotel is fit for kings (or queens or princesses!), celebrities, and anyone else who appreciates quiet luxurious accommodations.

We have stayed at many different luxury accommodations throughout the world however very few come even close to the quality of the Lumiere in Telluride.

Nothing has been spared with the decor and furnishings. We stayed in a 1 bedroom residence which had a huge formal kitchen, dining area and lounge area with Plasma TV, open fire and amazing views. The bedroom was also decked out with another gigantic plasma TV and an extremely comfy bed.

The highlight was the bathroom with a huge bath and a shower with 6 shower heads that doubles as a steam room - and did I mention that there was another plasma TV in the bathroom!

The property is extremely well located in the mountain village - ski-in and a very short walk to the lifts. It is less than 2 mins walk to the mountain village restaurants and bars and about a 5 minute walk to the Gondola if you wanted to head down in to town in the evening.

As you would expect, this type of luxurious property comes at a bit of a premium price (although not exorbitant) and it is no wonder people like Nicholas Cage stay here.
