Slopeside Convenience

09/04/2015
Staying at the Mammoth Mountain Inn was just all too convenient. I whizzed down the slopes, walked about 20 metres to the front door of the hotel, and the ski valet took my skis, and put my boots on the drier (but strangely wouldn’t store my ski poles). In the mornings, wandering out the front door to click in was just as easy!

Staying here would be particularly convenient for families with small children considering the immediate access to child care amenities, equipment rentals and ski school, and of course the convenient access to the slopes. It would also be ideal for those who don’t want to go outside the hotel for dinner every night. It was easy enough to get the shuttle down to the village, but if you wanted to eat out every night you’d probably be better off staying down in the village.

The Mammoth Mountain Inn is old but it’s been renovated somewhat, so it doesn’t feel tired and has plenty of charm, particularly the main building. The Dry Creek bar is upscale rustic, and it offers the most amazing alpenglow views up the mountain that are perfectly framed in the windows.

We stayed in a superior room that had a big king bed that was very comfortable. The hotel was very quiet, unlike with some of the village accommodations where there is the potential for evening noise from restaurants and bars.

It’s very easy for us to recommend a stay at the Mammoth Mountain Inn. It provides very good value for money, and you can choose a room suitable to your budget.
