The Edelweiss Hotel has found a nice mix of old school charm and modern touches. The lobby is an attractive step back in time with antique-type furnishings and comfortable old leather couches, whilst the superior rooms and suites have been recently renovated with modern furnishings.

Meanwhile the exterior of the hotel looks a little dated, but then most of the buildings in Bariloche do too, and a glossy new hotel just wouldn’t look appropriate for Bariloche.

We were very happy with the breakfast and also impressed with the location of the hotel. It wasn’t smack bang in the middle of the tourist street but still in amongst the action and just a few minutes walk away from Mitre.

We stayed in a superior room which was really impressive: nice décor; delightful views of the lake; very spacious; and a huge comfortable bed.

The service was outstanding – from the front desk staff, to the barman, to the bell boy. This can be rare in Argentina, so this was particularly remarkable.
