Hokkaido Road Trip - NEW for 2019!

Join HPG's on a trip to ski two of the snowiest regions in Hokkaido. Starting on the coast in Niseko, you will spend three days skiing the area’s side-country terrain. You will then travel to Furano in Central Hokkaido where we have access to the Daisetsuzan National Park and the live volcano of Asahidake.

Each day you will ski Hokkaido’s famous powder and finish by bathing in thermal hot-springs. In the evenings treat yourself to gastronomic local Japanese cuisine.

The AreaNiseko is in the west of Hokkaido and the area is renowned for huge accumulations of snow and for exceptional tree skiing. The west coast resorts are the first to receive snow from the Sea of Japan. Furano in Central Hokkaido is known for its low humidity levels which produce some of the lightest consistency powder in the world.

Trip TypeSide-country areas will be accessed initially from lifts and then skinning to out of bounds terrain.

Itinerary
Day 1
Arrive in to Sapporo. Transfer to Niseko, the powder skiing capital of Japan. Check in to your hotel and enjoy a hot spring before dinner.

Day 2
The first guided day you will be sampling some of Hokkaido’s famous powder. There are stunning views of the Sea of Japan and Hokkaido’s Mt Fuji. The widely spaced birch offer world-class tree skiing. Our last run finishes at a local outdoor thermal hot spring called the Pool of Five Colors.

Day 3
Travel to a nearby resort and ski some amazing powder runs. The off-piste areas funnel back to the lifts so it will be a big day of powder riding. On the return journey soak in an outdoor thermal spring that has views of the Mt Fuji of Hokkaido.

Day 4
Today we travel to the coastal resort of Kiroro. Sometimes referred to as the 'Snow Factory,' the location of the resort was chosen for just how much precipitation this area receives. The snow here is always dependable as the prevailing wind blows the snow in to the tree skiing areas. Transfer to Furano in Central Hokkaido.

Day 5
Today you will ski a live volcano. Asahidake, at 2,290m is the highest mountain in Hokkaido and also a live volcano. You will be awed by this conical shaped volcano that looms over this backcountry ski area and which billows steam out of its multiple vents. The powder here is some of the lightest in the world and will not disappoint. You will ski through primeval spruce forest and take an outdoor hot-spring to finish.

Day 6
Journey south to Tomamu Resort. This destination always provides great skiing with dry and colder temperatures than other parts of Hokkaido. The tree skiing is some of the best in Central Hokkaido with widely spaced birch trees.

Day 7
Furano ski resort is one of the premier ski areas of Hokkaido and has steeper terrain than other areas of Hokkaido. Our off-piste circuit takes us out of the ski area boundaries which provides for 900 vertical meters of skiing each run. Easy access out of the resort and then egress makes for a big day of skiing. Dinner at a traditional restaurant to celebrate the last night.

Day 8
Transfer to the airport or your next destination.
