You will need a rest after this this action-packed powder chasing adventure that is the Powder Triangle Tour in Hokkaido! Ride many of Hokkaido's premium powder spots hitting the best locations based on the best conditions each day. The tour starts in Central Hokkaido with a base in Furano (3 nights) and then the vibrant city of Asahikawa (3 nights). The final base is the seaside town of Otaru (2 nights).
Whilst the accommodation locations are set, the itinerary regarding which ski area to hit up is somewhat flexible depending on snow and weather conditions because it's all about powder hunting.
The Powder Triangle Tour is a freeride tour for strong intermediate (in powder), advanced and expert skiers and snowboarders who are willing to do a little hiking to earn the absolute best tunes. It's a fast riding, powder seeking, mountain hiking, line seeking, face-shot collecting, onsen dipping, ramen eating tour.
Group Type
The tour is for mixed groups so you can join as a solo traveler, a couple or small group.
If you have your own group, the tour can be customised (pending guide availability) for private groups of 4 or more. You can

Locations
Potential locations could include: Furano,
Tomamu,
Tokachidake,
Asahidake,
Kamui,
Teine, and
Sapporo Kokusai. Depending on the timing of ropeway opening, there is also the potential to hit up the highly renowned
Kurodake.
Ability
You should be a strong intermediate, advanced or expert (off-piste) rider that is very comfortable and fluid in steep terrain and tight trees, and be able to ride at a decent speed. You should also be physically fit and willing to hike a little and have some competency with touring.

Avalanche safety equipment is essential and must be used and is available to rent for the entire tour. You will be trained on how to operate a transceiver, probe & shovel at the beginning of the week and this will be checked daily.
Guiding & Hosting
The tour will have 1 guide for up to 6 guests. Guides hold the following qualifications: ARM Level 5; Stage 1 Avalanche; Level 3 Snowboard Instructor and Trainer level 2 Ski Instructor; plus they have Wilderness First Aid. The guides also have many years of experience driving in blizzard conditions in Japan and hold Heavy Vehicle License and a Hazardous Area Authority.
