Wild West Tour
THIS TOUR IS NOT OPERATING IN 2022 DUE TO UNPREDICTABLE COVID IMPACTS HOWEVER REQUESTS FOR 2023 ARE WELCOME
It’s time to round up ‘yer partner and kick up your heels – DreamSki Adventures is taking you into the
heart of the Wild West for some great terrain, dry powder and western hospitality (and more bad
cowboy clichés!). This is a dream itinerary for the uninitiated – big terrain with big snow and very few
people.
You will be skiing the great American West in Wyoming and Montana where you will experience the
longest and the largest ski areas the USA has to offer! And they are in the two states with the lowest
population densities of all 50 states other than Alaska. So needless to say you will experience uncrowded slopes and won't have to compete with too many other skiers for fresh tracks in an area
also known for plenty of dry powder.
In Montana you will ski
Big Sky which offers the largest skiable acreage in
all the U.S. with 5,512 acres on their inter-connected ticket. It also boasts the second longest
vertical in the United States at 4,366 ft / 1,331m. Right behind it in third spot with 4,139 vertical
feet, you will experience
Jackson Hole, Wyoming, famous for its challenging terrain and
volume of snow in the Grand Teton mountain range. On the other side of the Grand Tetons, you
will explore
Grand Targhee, a hidden gem and a powder paradise known for the light, dry and
abundant snowfall across 2,000 acres/800 hectares of ski terrain.
These four ski areas are among the top resorts in the world for annual average snowfall.
- Big Sky: Annual average = 400 inches / 10 meters
- Grand Targhee: Annual average = 463 inches / 11.7 meters
- Jackson Hole: Annual average = 500 inches / 12.7 meters
These areas offer a good opportunity for great
snow conditions and abundant fresh tracks relative to most ski destinations. In fact Grand
Targhee offers a snow guarantee – if you are not happy with the snow they will give you a rain
check from November to April. Also don’t forget - you will be in the middle of nowhere relatively
speaking for North American ski resorts, and there will be no line ups and few people competing
for the fresh snow.
The landscapes you will be skiing and travelling through are unparalleled and truly western. You'll be surrounded by the Grand Teton Mountain range towering over you and then travelling along the western side of world famous Yellowstone National Park. The towns of Jackson and Big Sky will be a memorable experience with their western theme, hospitality and charm.
DreamSki Adventures chooses its destinations based on the best skiing, not the best marketed skiing, which is usually off the beaten track. They choose destinations known for quality of snow and fewer
people in order to experience as much fresh snow as possible. When you are spending your ski
holiday money you should have unique destinations with good probabilities of great snow conditions
to get the most out of your valuable time and money. The Wild West Tour delivers this in spades!
