The Pure Powder Adventure
The Pure Powder Adventure is designed to leave some options open, so that we can make selections best suited to the snow conditions. We'll start in the Rockies of Alberta, spending a day either at
Sunshine Village or
Lake Louise, depending on the snow. Sunshine Village offers the longest, steepest, in-bounds descent in the Canadian Rockies, the Delirium Dive, which has a controlled entrance, allowing only those with avalanche rescue equipment to enter. Lake Louise offers a huge variety of long runs ranging from open bowls to steep couloirs, and breathtaking views.
We'll wake up on day three in Golden, and spend the next two days riding at
Kicking Horse, with options of easy hiking out of bounds with a traverse right back to the base. The next morning we'll decide between skiing another morning at the Horse, driving 3.5 hours for the afternoon of skiing in
Fernie, or relaxing on this travel day with a long stop at natural hot springs along the way.
On days six and seven we'll explore the resort in Fernie, and leave day eight open for one of three options; driving 1.5 hr to
Castle Mountain for the day, skiing a third day at Fernie, or relaxing in town. Day nine will be an early start for the Calgary Airport 3 hrs from Fernie.
Fernie is a picturesque ski town with an impressive resort 10 mins from town offering five alpine bowls in the Lizard Range and famous for powder snow. Skiing this resort with your guide makes your days rewarding, as the crowds tend to follow the crowds. Castle Mountain is 1.5 hr way, and we’ll have an option to visit there if the group decides to. Somewhat of an unknown gem, Castle is an expansive resort in the Rockies with huge vertical and breathtaking views.
