5 Days To Play Overview

Leave all the big resorts and the crowds in southern BC and Alberta behind and head for the hills in northern BC where you will find deep-dry-cold-smoke and very few people!

This tour takes in northern BC's hidden gems; Hudson Bay (near Smithers) & Shames Mountain (near Terrace) PLUS an epic day of snowcat skiing with Skeena Cat Skiing.

This package includes a dedicated host & driver for the duration of the tour, accommodation (with breakfast), lift tickets  and a day of snow cat skiing. And whilst these tours are predominantly un-guided (apart from the cat skiing which is fully guided), you have the option to spend some time with one of the local riders at each of the ski areas to get the lay-of-the-land and maybe they will even show you a couple of their hidden stashes. Meals can be added on to the package or you are free to do your own thing.

The destinations visited in this region are quite spread out making a hosted road trip the ideal way to experience them; ski during the day and then relax in the evenings/mornings and let someone else drive you around.

If you are heading to Northern Escape Heliskiing in Terrace, this tour could also be the perfect way to warm-up the legs.

Ability & GroupYou can join one of the fixed tour dates as a solo or small group or request a custom trip for your own private group and requires a minimum of 3 to run with a maximum of 10 and suitable for strong intermediates through to expert skiers & boarders.

Sample Itinerary - 5 Days To Play

This sample itinerary is totally flexible and available from November through April each year subject to snow conditions!

The itinerary starts & ends at Terrace Airport (YXT).

Arrival Day (Meet & greet at Prince George Airport & travel to Powder King)
Fly into Terrace, BC. You’ll be picked up from airport by your host and taken to Skeena River House, a gorgeous locally-owned Bed and Breakfast. Food is very (very) important to Adventure Camp. After booking you will be contacted to collaborate on a menu. Northern BC is famous for wild-caught salmon and haddock, and we choose organic meat and vegetables. Dinner is cooked in-house, family style, so you can help out or just relax, get to know the group and get stoked for the adventure to come!

Day 2 (Ski/Board Shames Mountain)

After a home cooked breakfast, you are shuttled just 20 minutes to Shames Mountain, famous for massive dumps of snow – 475 inches annually making it one of the deepest, most consistent snow packs in North America. You will get orientated and meet the local rider who will spend the rest of the day showing you and the group their favourite and secret locations on the hill. Lunch is taken on the hill, and that night you will stay back at the Skeena River House to cook and eat as a group, reminiscing about the day’s sweet pow.

Day 3 (Cat skiing Skeena & then drive to Smithers)

6am breakfast today before you set out on the 90 minute drive to Skeena Cat Skiing. Prepare yourself for an extreme day of backcountry skiing and boarding, without any of that pesky uphill exertion! It goes like this: you ride into some big terrain in a passenger snow cat, get dropped off at the top of a line, ride down, shedding all the way, get picked up at the bottom. With that powder now destroyed, you venture off to find fresh slopes. And you get to do this an average of 11 times in the day! This is what the locals like to do on special occasions, weekends, workdays or really whenever they can! Lunch is provided, brown paper bag style and is eaten in the cat whenever you are heading up for more runs.

After the powder massacre, you will be driven 45 minutes to Smithers to the Stork Nest Inn or Driftwood Lodge for another family-style dinner and a well-deserved sleep.

Day 4 (Ski Hudson Bay & Party Last Night in Smithers)
Wake up fresh and ready for your last day on the snow. Breakfast on local free run eggs, sausages, toast, pancakes, fruit, coffee, tea and juice then it’s just a quick 20 minutes up to Hudson Bay Mountain Resort. Your hosts favourite way to ride Hudson Bay Mountain is in the glades, and the best part is there are no crowds, just friendly locals. You will meet your local rider and spend the day boarding and skiing , enjoying the Northern hospitality. Lunch is taken on the mountain. You can ski until the lifts close or until you drop. Whichever comes first.

After a quick shower and change, you will hit Main St in Smithers to explore the local bars and restaurants. Smithers has an Alpine feel and is the perfect way to celebrate with your awesome group and the awesome adventure you have shared.

Day 5 (Drive to Terrace & Flight Home or On-wards)
Following breakfast, you will be driven 2 hours back to Terrace for your flight home. You’ll be missed (until next time)!
