Tokyu Hotel

18/02/2016
I stayed here two years ago and am booked in to stay there again in two weeks. Overall a great hotel. High points for me were the breakfast and the indoor and outdoor onsens. Large indoor lobby and great change facilities to get in and out of your ski gear. We had a very large room, although as per standard in Japan the bathroom was a little small. Cleaning staff were phenomenal. Couldn't believe the attention to detail they put in fixing the room. e.g. I left a couple of yen in change on my draw one day, when I returned they had made a little origami change holder. No ski in/ski out, however Tokyu hotel was a bus stop for 3 or 4 resorts, so very easy to get to Happo One, Iwatake and 47/Goryu. The Wadano area doesn't have much night life or many food options by Happo village is only about a 10 minute walk.

A Very Nice Place to Stay in Hakuba

11/01/2016
The Powderhounds have not yet visited this property however we have compiled an editor's review and ratings based on trawling and summarizing dozens of reviews. Here is what the general consensus was:
Overall the ratings for this hotel were "Excellent" to "Very Good" and everyone said they would recommend this place to family and friends. Here is a summary of what people had to say:

- Rooms - were spacious and clean. Many comments were made about the firmness of the beds and pillows (as is the norm in Japan) however everyone seemed to get used to them or add an extra doona over the beds to soften them. The bathrooms were a bit on the small side (as is the norm in japan) but very clean and lots of people commented on the impressive range of complimentary hair and body products.
- Wifi was good around the common areas but not so good in the rooms. The English channels on TV are a plus.
- Food - everyone raved about the variety and quality of the daily breakfast. On the restaurant front for evening meals people thought they were good but not a lot said they were great. There is a bar that is open long hours which is a plus as this is not the norm in Japan.
- Location - the location, whilst not ski-in/ski-out is just a 10 minute easy flat walk to the lifts at Happo One. There is also a bus stop for the free shuttle buses at the front of the hotel making getting around easy. In addition there are a number of restaurants and bars within a short walk from the hotel.
- Service - there were a few Aussie staff making communication reasonably easy. Overall the staff were said to be welcoming and helpful.
- Onsen - was said to be a highlight for many visitors

Overall this hotel looks like a great place to stay however it is at the upper end of the price range.
