Guided Off-piste Skiing in Val d'Isere

Val d’Isère is a back-country skier’s paradise. Whatever your level and strength, there is an itinerary which is the most suitable for your ability so that you can enjoy every descent. There are unlimited itineraries and routes where fabulous Tarentaise landscapes are just waiting to be discovered - from glacier to spruce & larch forest. The guides adapt to every level and make sure that you are safe at every moment. If you want to cover a maximum amount of vertical descent, you can heliski from the Italian summits nearby. See the Val d'Isere heliski listing here.

Guides & Safety

Our back-country ski guides are experienced and professional. They know the area and all the itineraries around Val d’Isère intimately and know when to change a plan if security demands it.

All participants are provided with an avalanche transceiver, shovel, probe, and we explain how to use them before we set off.

Ski Ability

For those new to skiing the off-piste. You will discover suitable itineraries for introduction to off-piste skiing, learning about balance in powder snow and, if necessary, reinforcing piste technique. Each introduction session starts with a briefing about safety equipment use.

For advanced & experts, your guide will choose the best off-piste routes in the resort according to the quality and the stability of the snow. Every session will start with a safety briefing!

Ski Equipment

In order to make the most of your off-piste session, we recommend that your skis have a waist width of at least 100mm. If you have hired your skis for the week, go to the hire shop the evening before to change your skis.

Meeting Point

The meeting is at the stairs leading into the Olympic gondola or at another location pre-arranged with you.
