Monterosa First Tracks Package

The Monte Rosa range is an ideal place for ski touring activity: the big glaciers at high altitude make it possible to find snow until very late in the season; the variety of terrain gives the possibility to customize the perfect program for every ski ability & fitness level; the nice Italian style Mountain Huts make your nights comfortable. The region is known for its delicious food and enjoyable evenings in the mountains.

The program is ideal for those relatively new to backcountry ski touring & are keen to experience the joys of freeride powder in a high alpine environment. The tour is initially based in Alagna where you will spend the first two days completing single daily tours using the cable car to easily reach the glacier area & learning/refining all required backcountry ski touring skills.

The last three days the group will climb up to one of the high altitude Mountain Huts where you will stay for two nights. The group will climb some of the 4000m peaks of the Monte Rosa and enjoy a wonderful long run all the way down to the valley, skiing more than 3000 vertical metres.

The ideal period for this course is from the beginning of March to the first week of May as the weather is mild, and the snowpack is stable & deep.

Ski to Zermatt option available on request: Alternatively we can also organize to spend only one night in Gnifetti or Mantova and the next day climb up to Lys Jock (4266m) and ski down to Zermatt where we stay for the night. The next day we come back to Alagna using lifts and skiing piste/off-piste, long and beautiful runs. This tour is also called Spaghetti Tour (actually a shorter program of the famous Spaghetti Tour Monte Rosa.

  • Ski or snowboard touring off-piste for 5 days, learning or refining ski touring techniques ;
  • Discover areas of the beautiful Monte Rosa area, which have been preserved by the surrounding high mountain glaciers and descend up to 3,000 vertical metres in untracked snow from top to bottom;
  • Experience 2 nights at Monterosa's friendly mountain huts;
  • Enjoy the hospitality of the Alagna Valsesia inhabitants, its local food, wine and grappa!
