Macugnaga is postcard picturesque. A quirky ski resort in a beautiful valley that is split into two sections. The infrastructure is 'mature' but well maintained. It has it's own pace and there is a little walking between some tows. It is inexpensive and simple. While we did not experience fresh snow (it was cold and hard packed up high, soft & slow down low), I can see the potential for fun.

Excellent place to ski and have fun. Friendly, inexpensive with extensive back-country if you need it.

Ideal for families with varying levels of ability. Head to Staffa for lively bars and restaurants but make sure you keep a clear head for at least one sunrise to witness an incredible pink aura reflecting off of Monte Rosa. We stayed at the lovely Hotel Flora where Luca and Katharine catered for all our needs.
