Activities & Tours
The Activity Centre can assist with information and reservations for most activities at and near
Snowbird.
Ski Tours and Activities
If the slopes of Snowbird have become tracked out, there are other options for skiing (or boarding) fresh tracks. The
Interconnect Tour is a skiers-only tour of multiple Utah resorts and the backcountry routes between them. Tours that depart
Deer Valley cover 6 resorts, whilst the tours that depart from Snowbird on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays cover
Snowbird,
Alta,
Brighton and
Solitude Ski Resort.
Alaska Mountain Guides have various programs in Utah including backcountry skiing trips varying from half day to week-long adventures, as well as ice climbing and avalanche courses at Alta. There are also backcountry tours at Snowbird run by the Ski Patrol.
For the ultimate in riding virgin snow, check out heli-skiing with
Wasatch Powderbird Guides. With great terrain and incredibly light Utah powder, this is a fantastic experience. The heli-port is located on the hill above The Cliff and there is also an information office on Level 1 of the Snowbird Centre.
A First Tracks program is available at Snowbird which is a guided tour of the mountain for experts that starts at 7:45am.
Snowbird has an Avalanche Rescue Training Center that is operated by Wasatch Backcountry Rescue. It simulates finding victims and allows people to practise searching for buried transmitters. It is free to the public and is located to the east of The Cliff Lodge.
Family Activities
In addition to night skiing, Snowbird has a tubing hill adjacent to the Cliff Lodge as well as ice skating on an outdoor rink at Cliff Lodge. Skate rentals are available.
Adventure Activities
Contact the activity center for information on ice climbing as well as snowmobile tours through the backcountry near Mineral Basin.
Leisure Activities
Even in winter there are fly fishing opportunities – sounds chilly! Another option is to go snowshoeing. Rent snowshoes and DIY, or go out on an afternoon tour. If non-skiers want to enjoy the amazing views from the aerial tram and the top of the mountain, single rides on the tram can be purchased.
Relaxation
The Cliff Spa and Salon provides a multitude of different spa and treatment packages – massages, facials, mud baths and herbal wraps. The price list is outrageous but if you need relaxation that much, maybe it’s worth it? Massages during peak times for 50 minutes cost anywhere from $140-$160. Not as luxurious but just as relaxing at a much better price tag, Cottonwood Canyon Massage (
801 349 2769) make house calls.
Most accommodations at Snowbird have pools and hot tubs for lodging guests.
