Talk about a hidden gym!

The best ski resort you probably aren't considering. Period.

The terrain is varied and interesting. The size of the place is easily enough for 3-days without feeling too repetitive. And despite being this quaint, smaller, unknown mountain, the ALL of the lodges are world class. The only knock is there is nowhere to stay on the mountain.

Snowbasin is a wonderful resort. The staff are extremely friendly and the facilities are unmatched. Clean and luxurious, the comfort is lovely. The skiing is amazing and the snow is constantly good. There is a variety of runs for every ability. For the more advanced, The off piste is exquisite, snow is deep and delightful. 3 lodges that provide good food but the lines can be long and the service is slow.

Customer service is terrible

Came over from Colorado and looked to be a god day as they reported 12 inches. I say BS. After 2 runs they closed half the mountain for lightning. It was also raining and blowing like crazy. Was planning another day tomorrow so I asked if I could transfer my pass or get a discount for the next day...nope. Guess they don’t want to attract out of state business. I give it one star for terrible customer service.

Great Resort

Snowbasin is an awesome resort because of its variety in terrain and its world class lodges. The snow is fantastic, but not very consistent. But it is never crowded and it has awesome lifts that access amazing variety of terrain from tree trails to wide open groomers. Everything about this resort is awesome. I am a local and Snowbasin is my home so I don't really know much about lodging here. But overall this is an amazing big resort that is never crowded. It is an ideal place for a great time.

Where the locals ski!

Growing up in Utah, I have skied (snowboarded) at almost every resort numerous times. I spent the majority of my life skiing at Park City, which is nice, but the value isn't there for me.

So I started going to Snow Basin, which has great prices, great infrastructure, and most importantly, great snow! I have found out, that more and more of my friends and people I know are skiing there too.

If you ski for the night life, there's not much at the actual resort, but you are only around 30 miles from SLC.

I used to love this place. No crowds, big vertical, amazing advanced terrain off the john Paul and huge off-piste. Skied here alot over the years, but I was massively let down last time I came. A bullshit snow report (allegedly 8 inches actually 2), lifts iced and broken, first lift ran after lunch and no ticket refunds. What a shocker. So sad.

Snowbasin - Not a favorite

I've only skied at Snowbasin twice, and both times were a major letdown where the snow is a concern. The first time I went, there was so much fog that you could barely ski anywhere on the mountain anyway. The second time there had just been a huge 2 foot dump of snow. I was excited to go, and skipped school but I found heavy snow that was hard to even ski through.

With that being said, the resort has amazing food, bathrooms, lifts/gondolas, and extremely long runs. You will get a full work out going to this resort. It's a little more high class than the other two close resorts, and the price reflects that.

Snowbasin is amazing, very well laid out mountain and gorgeous lodges! The food and amenities are not your typical ski resort! Snow, terrain, grooming and out of bounds all rank very high!

Accommodations at Lakeside are in keeping with the resort. Private hot tubs and a resort hot tub. Daily apres party and cookies, hot chocolate, and muffins greet the guests anytime you go ask Shelly or the staff for help. They even provide shuttle services for dinner in case you don't want to drive the canyon after a few beverages!

Family resort destination, not for the people that want tons of nightlife, but they are there to ski and relax and enjoy.

Snowbasin

16/07/2010
Snowbasin is a pretty good powderhound ski resort and makes a great alternative to some of the higher profile Utah ski resorts. It features quality and quantity of snow, a very small skier to acre ratio, and the terrain size is large. There’s terrain on offer for all abilities but with a major emphasis on steep terrain.

The day lodges and facilities are impressively grandiose and the lift infrastructure is great, so you’ll clock up lots of vertical.

The only real con is the lack of on-mountain accommodation which necessitates a small commute each day. The up side is that the accommodation in the Ogden area is delightfully inexpensive, as is the food and drink.
