Other than skiing and snowboarding, Powder Mountain winter activities are quite limited, which is in fitting with its bare bones status.

Powder Mountain Ski Tours & Activities

In addition to guided tours of the off-piste zones of the Powder Mountain ski resort, Pow Mow offers guided backcountry tours in zones that have some pretty steep terrain. The tours include some hiking as well as snowcat shuttles, or just ski touring and splitboarding.

Powder Mountain Cat Skiing is also an option, with custom trips that can include a snowcat (not just the single shuttles) or snowmobile access in zones such as Gertsen Canyon or Davenport. This shouldn’t be confused with Powder Mountain Cat Skiing in British Columbia near Whistler.

Another great powder hound activity is heli-skiing. USA heli skiing is limited, and Diamond Peaks Heliski Adventures which is based in the Ogden Valley, is one of a handful of operators. Diamond Peaks provide some of the most inexpensive heli-skiing in the USA. They offer 6 run packages, which is a great way to get a taste of heli-skiing.

Snow Kiting Powder Mountain

Powder Mountain is the only US ski resort to offer an exclusive area for snow-kiting. The Mountain Adventure Center can provide information on lessons, and equipment rental is included in the cost of the lesson.

Other Activities Nearby

If you can’t join the Ogden Valley locals in ice-hole fishing for perch, there are other leisure activities in the area.

The Ogden Hill Aerospace Museum has an interesting collection of air force planes from various eras.

Union Station in Ogden houses three museums including a car, train and firearms museum. There’s something for everyone.

A good activity for the family is a visit to the George S. Eccles Dinosaur Park in Ogden. The park has more than 100 dinosaur sculptures that come complete with sound effects – scary!
