Shopping

Alta ski resort in Utah is not known as a shopping destination, but for such a sleepy village it surprisingly has numerous ski shops that cover the basics – don’t expect a high level of trendiness.

Alta Ski Shop There are multiple ski shops at Alta but many of them are small with many items crammed in. The Alta Peruvian shop is packed full of souvenirs and ski clothing and accessories. Great service is provided here, and you can sometimes pick up amazing bargains. The shop also sells beers that you can drink in the lounge including the infamous “Polygamy Porters” that tastes dreadful.

The shop at the Gold-miners is a bit larger and has more variety in the souvenir department, but the ski gear is still somewhat limited. Alta Sports in the lower level of the Albion Day Lodge has a bit more variety, and like other shops is happy to let you demo skis prior to purchase.

Souvenir Shopping Most of the shops selling ski gear or accessories also double as souvenir shops. Alta logo-wear abounds, including t-shirts, windcheaters, and polar fleeces, but unfortunately they all look a bit daggy. Lots of non-clothing souvenirs are also available in most of the shops.

General Shopping Some of the shops sell basic snacks and drinks, but for those who are staying in condos, a grocery stop in Salt Lake City will be required.
