My favorite mountain. Difficult to get to and expensive, but worth it if you can make it happen. The town is amazing, and the amount of terrain accessible from here is just incredible.

We have visited Telluride in 2020 and 2021 with 2 adults and 2 children (ages 5 and 8 in 2021).

Pros: Ski school is convenient and great quality. Lots of greens/ easy blue runs easily accessible. Ski runs rated green, double green, blue, double blue for families working with developing skiers. Mountain village and main downtown areas are charming, walkable, and have great restaurants. Our kids love riding the free gondola from the mountain village to the main downtown area. Lifts are fast. Plenty of very convenient lodging options in and around mountain village.

Cons: expensive. higher altitude than most other CO ski towns.

okay resort for a strong intermediate skier. Ski school is horrible. It is absolutely awful and a pure waste of your vacation and money. I was put in a group of 8 and was by far the best. The second day I was still put in the same group that was below my level and my instructor both days refused to let us ski on our own and forced us to be in a snake line following her all day at a very slow pace. If you are going to a ski school don't go to Telluride no matter what. It has by far the worst ski school i have been to, steamboat is so much better as a resort and ski school. I cant describe with words how bad it acualy is, i learned nothing, the teachers just want to get paid and groups are huge. Other than ski school it is an okay resort by no means good.

My husband, fifteen year old son and I had the absolute thrill of visiting Telluride for the first time, last month. We made the decision to try Telluride based on the information and reviews on the Powder Hounds website. I cannot thank you all enough!!! What a wonderful ski resort and quaint, welcoming town.
We flew from Australia to LA and then on to Montrose the following day. We were greeted by our private shuttle “ Alpine. Shuttles “ and after a quick pit stop at the grocery store in Montrose made our way to Telluride. The 1 hour journey was easy and picturesque.
The town of Telluride is gorgeous. A sleepy, but very welcoming old mining town, surrounded by the incredible Colorado Rockies on all sides. There are lovely restaurants, gift shops, banks, accommodations and a wonderful library. We spent one night at the Camel Gardens Hotel which was fantastic and then the remainder of our stay at Mountain Village, which is where the true heart of the ski resort/villagelies. The town of Telluride and Mountain village are connected by a fabulous free gondola which runs all day until late at night., and several ski lifts. We rented a stunning condo at Elkstone ( Endless Views ) via Homeaway.com.
This ski resort has everything you could possibly need for a wonderful ski holiday. There are an abundance of reputable ski/snowboard and clothing rental and sales shops : Telluride Sports, Christie Sports, Burton, North Face to name a few. We had a hassle free experience and very little wait time. My husband and son are seasoned snowboarders but I had not skied for 25 years and thought a lesson or two would be a good idea. No problem. Lessons were easy to book at the ticketing office in the village (which conveniently sits opposite the village express ski lift) which is also where you can purchase lift passes and lift&lesson packages.
There are some great restaurants, cafes and Apres hangouts around the village.
Ok, now the important stuff... the snow! Wow!!! The snow coverage was fantastic during the week of our visit. We were lucky to be there for fresh snowfalls and lots of very soft snow. The ski runs/ trails were soft and not Icie at all. The days were crystal clear with blue skies and spectacular, mind blowing views forever... all the way to Utah. There are lots of great, picturesque ski runs catering to all abilities, so you never get bored. There are numerous lifts, gondolas and high speed chairs with NO waiting. Lines were short and we were virtually able to finish a run and grab the next chair lift up the mountain again. This no waiting time was a massive bonus, as you could really make the most of the day.
The staff were awesome, super friendly and helpful.
We took a snowmobiling tour ( our first ) to Alta Lakes Ghost Town with TellurideOutfitters which was a brilliant experience. We would recommend to everyone. I would suggest booking in advance, we booked about a month in advance to ensure availability.
From beginning to end we had a fabulous skiing/snowboarding holiday in Telluride/Mountain Village. We did not encounter a single problem or issue. The snow, trails and lifts are incredible and the facilities are second to none. We highly recommend Telluride if you are looking for excellent terrain and a friendly vibe. It is great for families and individuals young and young at heart. We hope to return again one day soon.

Telluride is a very fun mountain. Fantastic snow quality. Uncrowded. Excellent off-piste. Great tree skiing.
The two days I was there were after a storm came through. We missed the first day after the storm; but there was still plenty of untracked snow to ski. The groomers were well taken care of. Hike to's looked great; but were closed when I was there. The trees off of Prospect and and Apex, the big skiing off of Gold Hill, and the steeps off of the Plunge chair were highlights for me. There was quality intermediate and beginner terrain as well.
The lift system is very modern with many high speed quads and a gondola serving rideable terrain. There are a few lifts in need of upgrade.
Telluride is an upscale mountain, much like Beaver Creek, Deer Valley and Northstar. Accommodations are not cheap, when compared to other resorts. Lift tickets will set you back $139(Thank god for Epic Pass!) There are seemingly high-end restaurants on the mountain and in town.
I can't comment on the Apres or the "scene" as I have only day tripped to Telluride.
A big shout out to the lady selling egg rolls at the bottom of the gondola in town. She is the best. The egg rolls are great! Recommend skiing to town and grabbing a couple of Egg Rolls for lunch!
All in all a great experience skiing at Telluride. Will bring family next time.

Best ski resort I have been to. Only thing I don’t like is the ski school. Steamboats ski school is way better. Great blues for intermediates.

We had a wonderful week in Telluride in February 2018. The resort's acreage is much smaller than other Colorado resorts, but our group of expert skiers had no problem filling six days; the Gold Hill chutes were closed, but all other terrain was open (we were fortunate to have been there for the best week of the season.) Glades, cliffs, chutes, moguls, bowls, and groomers to enjoy! The locals were compaining about Presidents Day crowds, but the place was nearly empty -- walk up to first chair and no problem with restaurants. (Their daily visitor average is apparently about the same as very small East Coast resorts.) We stayed in the Mountain Village and found it easy to get around, although both town and village seemed fairly quiet in terms of nightlife. Stunning views...great for photographers. Looking forward to a return trip!

For anyone looking to see more of the western US, Denver and Albuquerque are equidistant from Telluride (6 hours each; most visitors fly into Montrose, which is 1-1/2 hours away.) We arrived in Albuquerque 2 days early and did Santa Fe, Durango, and Mesa Verde National Park en route. Dropped rental car off at Telluride Airport and took a shuttle to the village. Really fun set of stops and a beautiful drive -- Santa Fe area museums were very interesting (we were there on a cool, cloudy day so town was kind of meh), and Mesa Verde was world-class impressive (budget several hours there.)

Not sure where that last reviewer went but it definitely was not Telluride. No good food? No intermediate/advanced runs? Give me a break. Nothing the resort can do about unseasonably warm weather, shouldn’t fault them for that.

I went to Telluride in early January and was absolutely overwhelmed by the beauty. Downtown Telluride feels like a historic, small town while Mountain Village is a modern ski village. Both have their draws. The locals were friendly and the food was all outstanding. Our group stayed in Mountain Village and plan to do so again upon our inevitable return.

The mountain is gorgeous. Plenty of terrain for all skill levels. Revelation Bowl is a blast. Astonishing views everywhere. ZERO lift lines. I would highly recommend everyone give it a visit.

Some complain about the difficulty getting there but we were content flying into Montrose and taking the short, scenic drive to Telluride. I have no problem saying it is the coolest place I have ever been.
