Snowmobile Adventures

Best Powder in Austria
Snowmobile Adventures at Purgatory Resort provide the opportunity to go on a spectacular scenic tour of the backcountry whilst simultaneously experiencing the adventure of snowmobiling.

Where is Snowmobile Adventures?

Snowmobile Adventures is conveniently located at Purgatory Ski Resort Colorado. Their office is situated in the Purgatory village, and the starting point for the tours is adjacent to the top car park.

Snowmobile Tours

Guided small group tours are of 1, 2, 3 or 4 hours duration with a flexible starting schedule between 9am and 5pm. They have a variety of snowmobiles, some with plenty of grunt, but fortunately (or unfortunately!) you’ll be kept sensible by your guide!

Snowmobile Adventures also offer luxurious overnight customised trips.

The Experience

The experience starts with wide groomed runs with a small part of the trail being on one of the ski runs on the periphery of the resort. You have to go slowly in this part, and it’s bizarre to snowmobile up past skiers going down. Further up the mountain you’ll turn off onto a narrow ungroomed track amongst the trees. Big bumps can form on the track, but this adds to the fun and the snowmobiles are very comfie.

Further up in the alpine areas the vistas are particularly spectacular. Actually the scenery in the backcountry is amazingly intoxicating. Definitely take the camera with an empty memory card as you’ll get to stop for photo opportunities. You won’t get to go hooning (and your snowmobile will have a nice orange flag), and powder hounds will have to resist the temptation to head onto powdery slopes. Nevertheless the experience is loads of fun, and very appropriate for first-timers up to moderately experienced snowmobile riders.

Why Go Snowmobiling with Snowmobile Adventures?

Apart from the stunning views, the tours provide an exciting adventure. It’s easy and appropriate for anyone to do from grannies and first-timers, to families and adventure seekers (drivers minimum age 16 years; passenger minimum age 4 years).
