Snowboarded with my two daughters and son in law. This was our first time on a backcountry all day cat adventure. It met all of our expectations and beyond. We had access to untracked powder all day long. Our two guides were fun, energetic, yet kept us 100% safe. Lunch was a delicious home cooked meal. Our cat driver was also fantastic helping us load the cat each trip and engaging conversation and jokes. I would do this trip again.

Unbelievable day! Piglet and Dan were our guides. Challenging terrain, great group, lots of untracked power, multiple runs, deep snow and experienced, amazing guides.

Couldn't ask for a better snow cat trip and we've been on many in various places. The trip was easy to book and even with the Canadian dollar, great value for our money.

I caught this tour on an incredible day so I am biased. Thigh deep light as a feather powder, cold temps, and a cloudless sky so what's not to like. The guides are terrific. They really take care that everyone is treated well and make sure to pick the lines the group can do.

I read a lot about the comments on the runs being short. I get 30 days a year, I am a fit expert skier and nonstop from top to bottom is about what my legs could handle in the deep powder. When you ski lifted terrain on a powder day its seldom from top to bottom anyway.

I also like to ski the steeps. This terrain is not that steep but don't tell me you can't enjoy every turn on nice blue to black runs in untracked conditions. I loved it. Its perfect for a nice enjoyable ski day without humping your skis up some steep climb. The skiers in my group did not slow anyone down and they provide a terrific lunch in a cabin setting.

As far as safety is concerned they told me that they had not experienced a slide in many years. Good to know because they did not provide any information on how to use the avalanche gear in the event of a problem. As it happens a small slide did catch one of the group but nothing major happened, but you may want to ask how to use it anyway.

As far as value? Cripes its Aspen so what do you expect. A day ticky is getting close to 120. I was on a 6 day pass so they deducted the cost of a daypass from my ticket which made it totally good value. Cost me way less than three days skiing inbounds if you factor in the lunch. So I think it was good value for the experience.

Second Time Aas Just As Good!

I've done it twice now. We've lucked out and had amazing snow both times (7+ inches that night). The terrain can feel a little flat especially when you have lots of snow.

Take the time to ask the guides for tips on your form because they're really knowledgable. Also, the more people you have in you're group, the more fun it'll be. There are about 10 seats in the cat and if you can get 6 of them, you set the vibe. If there are just 2 of you, it can be fun a fun day, but the age/skill level/music tastes will be more varied.

The day out with Aspen Powder Tours was soooo much fun. There was lots of woo hooing!

Pros
- The opportunity to go cat skiing in Aspen is absolutely fabulous. It makes the perfect adjunct to an Aspen ski vacation. Aspen is an awesome ski town that has a great buzz about it and has world class restaurants, a vibrant nightlife, remarkable shopping, and lots of other activities.
- Aspen cat skiing is really well suited to strong athletic intermediate riders who want to get more experience riding powder. The terrain has lots of wide open meadows where you can let those boards rip!
- The guides are really fun and will make sure that you have an amazing day!
- Aspen Powder Tours are really honest about the snow conditions, and if they’re not superb they either don’t go out or they provide substantial discounts.

Cons
- The terrain size is rather small relative to other cat skiing operations.
- As is very typical of USA cat skiing, the runs are very short (only 1,000 vertical feet on average), especially when compared to BC cat skiing or Chile cat skiing, so the fun is over way too soon.
- Experts will find the terrain rather tame, but they’re likely to have fun in the powder anyhow.
