Alpine Meadows recently introduced a five lane snow tubing park near the Subway chair. It will distract you for at least half an hour, maybe more if you have kids.
If the snow is no longer floating your boat, or you just want a day off the hill, drive to Nevada and visit Reno. You can try your luck at one of the many casinos. Alternatively, a visit to the historic Virginia City will give you an eye into the old west. Heading down to the lakeside and simply wandering along the pretty shoreline of Lake Tahoe is as cathartic a local activity as one could get.
A number of day spas are located in nearby Squaw Valley. The Resort at Squaw Creek has a large complex, and others include Trilogy Spa which offers a bizarre après ski/mini treatment group combination. Booze, massage, group, mmmmm............ the mind boggles!
