Casa San Regis

THE CASA SAN REGIS IS CURRENTLY ONLY BOOKABLE WITH A SKI ARPA PACKAGE

Casa San Regis is a beautiful 19th century hacienda built by Spanish royalty and rich in history. Staying here provides a great chance to immerse yourself in the history of Chile, and to enjoy genuinely friendly Chilean hosts. The estate offers unique bed and breakfast style accommodation on a gorgeous property with lots of vines and the bonita snow-covered mountains in the background.

Many of the features of the 3,600 sq metre house are original, and combined with antique furnishings, the casa has plenty of charm. Casa San Regis finds a great balance between the old world and the new world.

Where is the Casa San Regis?

It's a little bit out of the way but that's what adds so much to the property and the feel of the place. Casa San Regis is on the outskirts of the town of San Estaban which is just north of Los Andes in the Aconcagua Valley. Once in San Estaban there are signs pointing to Casa San Regis.

Casa San Regis is the closest accommodation to the Ski Arpa at skiing operation in Valle Arpa, about a 50 minute drive away.

Rooms

Five of the rooms have been restored and are available for 13 guests. They have various configurations including the magnificent honeymoon suite, twin rooms, and rooms with 3-4 single beds. All the rooms are large and combine historic charm with modern conveniences such as new bathrooms and split system air-conditioning and heating.

We stayed in a twin room that had firm but very comfortable beds which were fantastic after a day cat skiing. The modern bathroom had a large shower with the biggest shower rose I've ever seen and an adjacent bath and shower also. There’s no excuse for being dirty in this place!

Dining

Breakfast and dinner are included in the package and are another great feature of this accommodation. Meals are served in the saloon that has traditional decor. It has a huge fireplace that manages to make the large room feel very cosy.

There might only be one choice on the menu. You pretty much get what's given to you, but the lack of choice is a nice mystery and offers a chance to try new Chilean food. The multi-course meals are gorgeous and can be accompanied by great local wines (try an Aconcagua Valley Carmenere – awesome!).

The saloon also doubles as a general hang-out area where you can make the most of the free wifi internet access or socialise with other travellers.

Why Stay at the Casa San Regis?

There are a multitude of reasons to stay at Casa San Regis. Apart from being good value for money and well located for Arpa, the hacienda has a great feel to it. This place is not at all "resortified" and is a breath of fresh air. You'll feel like you've found the real Chile. Hotels are pretty much the same all over the world. Do something different and stay at a traditional hacienda instead.

The English speaking owners Mancela and Alexi and their staff are incredibly welcoming. They are possibly the loveliest people in Chile. You won't want to leave this place!
