EA offer Instructor Training and Certification course Ideal for developing your skiing or snowboarding over a short period of time, and obtaining your Level 1 ski or snowboard instructor qualification at the same time!
The Instructor Training courses operate in Canada Whistler and Lake Louise (4 or 11 weeks), Canada as well as Lake Tahoe, USA (3 weeks). Three of the most famous, spectacular and snow laden ski & ride locations on Earth.
EA’s longer 11 week course will give you extra ski and snowboard training, courses and events plus the opportunity to get your Level 2 instructor qualification or our Total Mountain Course (TMC) Certificate. Plus you get; First Aid Certification, Avalanche Course, Park & Freeride Course Course, Wrap Up Free Ski, Ride Final Presentation, Farewell Party.

ItineraryThe Whistler & Lake Louise itineraries are basically the same whereas the Northstar (Lake Tahoe) session is only 3 weeks. The "Instructor skills" and "Exam Prep" are condensed into one week for this session.
Arrival Pre-Orientation (3 days).
This is an optional extra for short-course participants. Explore the local gateway city (Vancouver for Whistler and Lake Louise and San Francisco for Northstar) with your coaches and meet some of the other participants. Includes hotel transfers from airport, city tour, group dinner, 2 nights accommodation and breakfasts and onwards transfer to destination resort.
Days 1 - 3: Settling In
The first few days are for getting you set up in our accommodation, setting your goals and objectives, familiarising yourself with the village and the mountain and gaining you ski legs.
Day 4 - 10: Training Begins
Your first training days will be focused around developing your personal ski or board skills both on and off piste.
You’ll learn about Stance and Balance and get an introduction to the Core Competencies.
Training will cover level 1-3 teaching progressions. Indoor sessions will include ‘Leadership Training’ and the ‘Forces in Skiing and Snowboarding’. Video Analysis will be a chance to identify areas for personal improvement. By the end of this training block you have an understanding of the fundamental skills and the level 1 course standards.
On days off there’ll be an opportunity to practice and consolidate and cover off indoor course materials in study groups.
Day 11 - 17: Instructor Skills
During this training block you’ll continue to develop your personal ski or board skills.
Your trainer will step up the tempo this week and get your into some more challenging terrain and hopefully some ‘Lake Louise Powder’.
You will learn about rotation, edging and cover core competencies in more detail. Indoor sessions will include ‘Student Centered Teaching’ and ‘Developing the Guest Experience’.
In your video analysis sessions you’ll cover drills and tactics for improvement.
During your days off there’ll be an opportunity to relax and consolidate what you’ve learnt on snow in your own time.
There will also be social functions so you can let your hair down!
Day 18 - 23 : Exam Prep.
Your third training block is geared toward getting you ready for the level 1 exam.
You’ll also spend time on developing your level 1 demonstrations, teaching progressions and practise group teach scenarios.
You also continue to develop your personal ski or board skills on a variety of terrain.
Indoor sessions will include ‘Bio-Mechanics’ and ‘Children in Snowsports’.
On your days off there’ll be an opportunity for you to shadow a Ski & Board School lesson and cover off indoor course materials in study groups including the pre exam E-Prep module.
Day 24 - 28 : Exam & Party
The CSIA/CASI Level One Exam (or PSIA/AAST in the case of Northstar session).
This is basically an extension of the training days!
The course is fun, informative and a chance to develop your teaching and personal skiing or riding skills even further.
The course conductors roll is to help you reach the level one standard.
You’ll get individual and group feedback throughout the three (snowboard) or four days (ski).
And by the end of the course you hopefully be walking away with a pass result!
Evening 27 is the last hooray with a final group function and presentation!
AccommodationWhistler Blackcomb -
HI Whistler is a hostel in a class of its own, built to accommodate athletes for the 2010 winter Olympics. It has a funky dining area, cafe, media room, games room, storage for ski gear and comfortable multi-share rooms.
