Snow Park
Snow Park NZ
At Snow Park NZ there are lots of thrills, spills and some potential for medical bills! Rather than being a traditional ski resort with piste runs, Snow Park is unique in that it’s a dedicated freestyle terrain park – heaven for freestyling fiends!
Sure this is not the spot for powderhounds to hang out, but with an abundance of features and hits, lots of groovy tunes, and a classic laidback Kiwi culture, Snow Park is perfect for shredders. Home to various world class competitions, Snowpark is also a great breeding ground for world freestyle champions.
Snow Park Ski and Snowboard Terrain
Snow Park provides over 40 rails, jumps, and other hits for a variety of different ability levels. There is a dedicated novice park, hits for intermediate riders, and plenty to keep pros entertained including a triple jump line and a world cup standard superpipe. Snowpark also has a quarter pipe, wall rides, steps with rails, and other ever-changing innovative features.
The 60 acre (24 hectares) area is serviced by a fixed quad chairlift and a ropetow. Snowpark has also introduced cat skiing down the Roaring Meg which is great for adults and kids alike who don't want to ride the park.
At a maximum elevation of only 1,530 metres, Snowpark doesn’t receive much snowfall from Mother Nature, but with 33 snow guns there’s plenty of man-made snow to keep Snowpark fully operational between late June and late September.
Snow Park NZ is open from 9am to 4pm daily, and on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings from 5-9pm. Lift ticket prices are $NZ84 for adults, $NZ62 for students and $NZ39 for youths (2011 rates). Learner passes are significantly cheaper.
