The Spinnaker Bay Apartments provide deluxe and spacious accommodation on the shores of Lake Wakatipu, thereby affording gorgeous views of the lake, The Remarkables and other nearby mountains. The apartments are well appointed with all the mod cons and necessities for the perfect Queenstown holiday.
Where Is Spinnaker Bay Located?
The apartments are located at 151 Frankton Road, approximately 1.3km from the centre of town. The walk into town takes about 20 minutes along a scenic path that meanders next to the lake. Those without a car can also use the Connectabus shuttle that leaves from out the front, or a taxi may be a cheaper alternative if there are a few people going into town.
The property is set on a hill which ensures that all apartments have great views. Subsequently the driveways around the property are really steep and thankfully they have heated driveways to prevent them icing up in winter. Your car won’t ice up either as each apartment has a garage.
Spinnaker Bay is in a nice location. It’s not too far from the restaurants and bars of town, yet far enough away to be in a peaceful environment away from the hubbub.
Apartments
Apartment configurations include 1, 2, or 3 bedrooms. The apartments are five-star Qualmark rated luxury, and whilst some of the décor is a little overly homely, the main luxury comes from the comfort element and all the little extra conveniences and nice touches. They ensure that you feel like you’re at home. The only difference is that there is daily maid service (assuming you don’t have daily maid service at home!). Of course the views are also very lavish and all the apartments have large windows to show off the magnificent views.
We stayed in a delightful two bedroom apartment where every room was incredibly spacious. The kitchen was fully equipped with all the appliances and homewares you’d want. The bedrooms were large enough to swing a cattery full of cats around, and the gorgeous king sized bed and delightful linen made for an amazing sleep experience. Even the nicely appointed bathrooms were big and one had a ginormous spa bath. The spa produced about as many bubbles as you’d get if you blew through a straw, but the bath even had little armrests – perfect if you want to read a book in the bath. With a bath that big, lucky that NZ doesn’t have a drought problem!
Each apartment also has laundry facilities, and unlike some places, they’re nice enough to provide the washing powder! All apartments also have a private outdoor area with a BBQ.
Facilities
Spinnaker Bay has a 12 metre heated swimming pool, and like the rest of the complex, the huge glass frontage makes the most of the vistas.
Another great asset to Spinnaker Bay is a manned reception, so it’s a great place to get advice on directions or ideas on one of the many Queenstown activities.
