Accommodation
Appi Kogen ski resort has five different accommodation options as well as a large range of pensions nearby. A range of budgets are catered for; from the very top end to basic lodging.
Hotel Appi Grand
The lemon gold
Appi Grand Hotel is rather distinctive and provides a delightfully high standard of accommodation, a very extensive range of facilities, and exceptional service. The hotel has 230 rooms in the main building and 174 rooms in the adjoining tower. All rooms are Western style and room types include a range of twin rooms, family rooms and suites. Located at the base of the ski area, the hotel is very conveniently ski-in ski-out. See our
Hotel Appi Grand review for more information.
Grand Villa Accommodation
Despite the name, these buildings provide more of a hotel style of accommodation rather than that of a villa. Grand Villas 1, 2 and 3 are all located adjacent to the ski slope. Grand Villa 1 and 2 provide a moderately economical option with Japanese-western combination rooms. Grand Villa has twin rooms or Japanese-western rooms for up to 7 people, so it’s a good option for families. This accommodation has two restaurants on-site.
Appi Grand Annexe
The Appi Grand Annexe provides a casual form of accommodation in twin rooms with sofa beds. The annexe has three restaurants and provides direct access to the Appi onsen patio. The base of the ski resort is a 5 minute walk away and there’s also a shuttle service available to get there.

Appi Pension Village
Appi has a large pension village about 1km from the ski resort with lots of pensions that provide very reasonably priced accommodation. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to the ski resort, but most pension owners will provide transport to and from the ski area.
Pension Mutti is popular, particularly amongst travellers who don’t speak Japanese. The owner speaks English, the beds are Western style, and breakfast and dinner can be included in the accommodation package. The
Pension Mutti website is largely in Japanese but you can email the owner for any information.
The pension village also has a self-contained accommodation option which is somewhat of a rarity amongst many Japanese ski resorts. The Meson apartments vary in size but all have separate bedrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. For more information email the Appi English Service Centre.
