Where is Davos Klosters, Switzerland?
Davos Klosters is located near the towns of the same name in the canton Graubuenden (Grisons) of south east Switzerland.
Close to the border with Austria, the nearest cities to the Davos Klosters ski resort are Landquart (30km by road) & Chur (47km by road). Klosters is only 137km southeast of Zurich (1½ to 2hr drive).
The towns of Davos & Klosters are 9km apart (as the crow flies) but connected by road, train, ski lift & piste trail! The train system is excellent & is the recommended mode of travel to the ski resort. By train, Zurich airport is less than 2½hr from Klosters, & slightly more for Davos.

The gateway international airport for Davos Klosters is Zurich (ZRH). Zurich airport is linked to the towns of Davos & Klosters by train, but private transfers & car rentals are readily available.

Airport Shuttle & Transfers
Private transfers are available from the airports to Davos or Klosters & are the quickest mode of travel to the ski resort. The Powderhounds recommend taking the train from the Zurich airport to Davos Klosters - you can upgrade to the comfort of first class for most journeys. However, if you cannot abide public transport, are in a larger group of 3+ people or just have the cash to splash, by all means travel to Davos & Klosters from the airports by private shuttle. Train & Bus Transport to Davos Klosters
A sure way to POW (Protect Our Winters) is by taking the train to Davos Klosters. By train, Zurich airport is less than 2½hr from Klosters & only slightly more for Davos, making it not only efficient, but the best value travel option to the ski resort.
Each town has two railway stations. Klosters Dorf & Davos Dorf at the 'minor' end of each town, Klosters Platz & Davos Platz at the 'major' end of each town. The other station of note is midway between the two called Davos Wolfgang.
The train journey to Davos from the Zurich airport is usually in 3 or 4 stages. Changes are required in Zurich, Landquart & sometimes Klosters.

Driving to Davos Klosters
As with many ski resorts in Switzerland, the roads to Davos Klosters is sometimes not for the fainthearted. Whist the journey to the lower elevation Klosters is straightforward, the climb up to Davos in snowy conditions can be interesting to say the least.
From Zurich airport, one will join the major A3 highway heading south east into Grisons. At the major town of Landquart, exit onto route 28 towards Klosters. The village of Klosters is off the main route which enters the Gotschnatunnel toward Davos. From the airport, the 160km to Davos can be safely completed in around 2½hr.
If driving from the west of Switzerland, the use of the car train between Andermatt & Disentis is necessary due to the road being closed to all vehicles in winter (it is a wonderful sled & ski run in Andermatt!!)
Car Rental & Hire for Davos Klosters
For those travelers wishing to drive to Davos & Klosters or want to pick up a car once you have already arrived in the Davos Klosters area, car hire & rentals are readily available, with some caveats however! The Zurich airport provides the most convenient location for picking up & dropping off a rental car. Providers closer to the ski resort are located at Chur & Davos.
If renting cars in Switzerland, some companies have exorbitant security deposits on each car. In St Moritz itself, hiring a car could require an 8,000CHF deposit, but thankfully that is far from normal! Regardless, check the fine print before booking online.

Getting Around Davos Klosters
For skiing, the Davos Klosters Mountains Regional Ski Pass includes transport throughout the region, covering the 5 main ski areas (Parsenn, Jakobshorn, Rinerhorn, Madrisa & Pischa) and all the valley trail exits. The local Rhätische Bahn (train) is included in the lift pass between Küblis & Filisur plus all the local buses. Note that the towns of Küblis & Filisur represent the absolute extremities of the ski area. The use of the train network allows for extensive exploration of the region for no additional cost.
A regular & extensive bus service links all ski areas & accommodation to central Davos & Klosters. The buses are free for holders of local ski & accommodation passes. From our own experience, wherever you end up (within reason!), there will be a bus stop or train station to get you ‘home’.
Nearby Ski Resorts
There are too many awesome ski resorts nearby to fully mention, but here are a few easily linked by train & bus. They include the full spectrum of high-end to backcountry delight at St Moritz, the intermediate paradise of Arosa, the behemoth that is Laax & one of the Powderhound's all-round favourites, Lenzerheide. Throw in Bivio or Brigels for a bit of Swiss small village ski action & all bases are covered without leaving canton Graubuenden. But if you want to leave, do it on skis via Madrisa to our secret stash in neighbouring Austria, Gargellen.
