Heliski Monte Rosa
Heliskiing Monte Rosa
Heli skiing in Italy offers a very special experience, particularly with Heliskiing Monte Rosa. Firstly, heli skiing is the most amazing activity for powder lovers on one or two sticks to find fresh tracks. The helicopter flights are breathtakingly spectacular considering the dramatic and remote mountain peaks, whilst the main event of the descent of the Monte Rosa massif on skis (or snowboard) in endless powder provides the ultimate rush. The heli skiing combined with Italian hospitality, food and wine makes for an amazing trip.
This week long Monte Rosa heli skiing trip is based at the ski resort of Gressoney, and includes 4 days of heli skiing with an IFMGA Mountain Guide, one day of guided off-piste skiing, and one day of resort skiing.

It is a relatively small resort that is quiet and has some great off-piste riding opportunities including some tree skiing. Piste terrain is between elevations of 1,625 and 3,550 metres. Gressoney has two little villages that exude charming Italian ambience, with a small number of restaurants and bars.

The closest gateway airport is Turin (Torino) which is a 90 minute transfer to/from Gressoney. Another option is the Milan Malpensa, although this airport is a little further away.
Monte Rosa Heli Skiing Terrain
As the second highest mountain in the Alps and western Europe, Monte Rosa heliskiing is renowned for providing some of the biggest vertical descents in the European Alps, with some helicopter landing zones above 4,000 metres elevation (and one at 4,500m!). Typically a Monte Rosa heliski descent offers about 2,000 metres of vertical bliss.
The high altitude alpine slopes vary significantly and include glaciers, bowls, steeps, and couloirs. The region offers over 25 helicopter landing zones and a large choice of runs across three valleys. The guides choose runs with the best snow conditions possible, also taking safety factors into consideration.
A minimum of 4,000 metres vertical is heli skied daily. If any of the heli runs are cancelled due to conditions, you will be refunded the recoverable costs and the guide will take you off-piste skiing at a resort instead.
The minimum ability required is that of a strong intermediate skier or snowboarder, with at least a couple of weeks of off-piste skiing experience.
Travel to Gressoney and meet at the hotel. A briefing and equipment check is provided by the guides, followed by dinner.
Your guide will take you off-piste skiing in Gressoney to give you a chance to warm up and refine your powder riding technique. An avalanche safety briefing and demonstration is provided.
4 days of heli-skiing, typically 2 drops per day, each of 2000m+ descents.
A free ski day to enjoy the lift accessed skiing.
Departure after breakfast.
It is a condition of booking that you are insured for your chosen activity and that the cover includes medical expenses, personal accident, personal liability, third party risks and rescue (including helicopter rescue). You are strongly advised also to take out cover against cancellation and curtailment.
